I still can’t bring myself to play an imperial spy in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The prospect of role-playing as a homicidal fascist just feels less appealing than ever.

Yeah, maybe it’s a Midwest thing but my first thought immediately went back to my grandma making floats of orange/grape/strawberry sodas for all us kids on hot summer days.

I was just about to drop in and mention the Boston Cooler. Reminds me I haven’t gotten near enough to a Halo Burger in far too long.

I’ve always wondered how a float would work with something other than vanilla ice cream.  I considered the idea of a Sprite/sherbet float when I was a kid, but we never seemed to have both of those ingredients at the same time.

Yeah I was gonna say Coke or Cherry Coke floats are both good choices.

Now try it with chocolate ice cream.

Coke floats are a classic, and I wonder how some of the newer flavors would do in that situation. As others have mentioned, other fruit sodas (orange, grape) are also classics. I would taste-test Fresca, Fanta strawberry, and something pineapple-flavored, although perhaps actual pineapple juice and seltzer would work…

OK, so your ginger ale attempt was sorely lacking in the “correct drink choice” department. The correct choice is Vernor’s which is a Michigan staple and more of a ginger cream soda if we’re being honest. The drink even has a name. It’s called a Boston Cooler. And it’s great.
