His not being there only derailed proceedings for 45 minutes. They didn’t lose an entire day of proceedings. It’s a heavy-handed punishment, you know it, fuckity-bye. 

And? I get why it’s an offense, but 10 days in jail, a year of probation, and community service is a bit much. The community service alone would likely have been enough to get the point across.
