It’s not like he’s already spending too much time on Xitter, for a guy supposedly running multiple companies. Oh, wait...

I mean, you’d only be able to call or text, or receive calls or texts, from other people with Twitter accounts, though, right?
Agreed. And given how bot-infested the place is (it may be confirmation bias but it seems like there are more bots than ever) I wonder what portion of that number are actually monetizable humans.
And, just like in August following its initial massive number of downloads following its launch in July, users will largely abandon it because they’re looking for a Twitter replacement and not Instagram-but-text.
Sports Twitter and Video Game Twitter (and by extension esports Twitter) communities are full of clout chasing personalities who just flat refuse to move because they don’t want to lose their megaphone.

I…I’ve never understood this. If you don’t want to use X, or any other social media, simply don’t. I often hear or see people say this and rarely have I heard a legitimate reason to keep using it if I press them.
I’ll tell you a little secret... you don’t need either one!
Threads is absolutely terrible, which is what we should expect from any app launched by Meta. They haven’t successfully launched one since Facebook, and Threads looks like it’s going to be another hilarious failure more and more every day.
So you are saying that if something is not delivered in an Amazon truck or by the post office or UPS, that those drivers work for a third party company that underpays them? Certainly plausible, but how often does that happen (that’s a question, not a statement)? I just don’t see that where I live.
While I understand my comment may not be popular, I don’t think we can have every job pay to support someone as a career. While I think that jobs should pay a decent wage there are different values assigned to jobs. Delivering food is not something that you should depend on to pay your bills, IMO. Working at a shopping…
Let’s be real here. DoorDash, Lyft, and Uber drivers are contractors by every legal definition.
Name one Driver that has a gun to their head to Work. Name one driver that has an education or licensable skilled trade that would earn him a higher wage. Why is this the company’s fault? Look, if its your lifes goal is to drive a taxi(uber) or any food delivery, you may as well quit high school now and get some real…
The whole gig food delivery economy seems doomed to fail
To be fair to the “gig” jobs, they weren’t supposed to be full time employment. Now, I am not saying the companies didn’t incentivize working on their platform more. But you weren’t supposed to be able to live off doordash, uber, lyft or any of those other services, at least from their lense.
If the pay sucks, just don’t work.
Article is misleading. Amazon lost $2.4B on NA distribution operations in 2022 (even more internationally). Including AWS metrics in this discussion is inappropriate.
I wonder what the percentages are on drivers who continuously stick to these gig deliveries and how much of it is just people who do it for a month or so before realizing they basically make no money once they have to repair/replace anything on the car. I did one after the last time I moved, and it was a very helpful…
Even so, Amazon reported $514 billion in net sales. While that isn’t profit, it’s still way more than the $1.3 billion spent in wage increases. These companies could easily pay workers or contractors much more than they currently do.
I’ve worked for DD. They definitely fudge the amount of money you can expect to make on an hourly basis. The figure they give - which I want to say is something like $20+ an hour - is really just for people doing this in very large metropolitan places, and it’s not accounting for gas, maintenance, or income tax.
