The hilarity of the outrage towards this show is incredible. You can practically taste the ignorance and white priviledge.

Often the little things scare me the most. The changes in acceptable behavior, the lowering of expectations. Our imprisonment in this system will be built upon not one sweeping change, but changes to several laws, some of them seemingly concerning smaller issues or things that don’t usually concern you or me.

Watching The Handmaid’s Tale is not helping. But that’s how it works: Some things happen that don’t yet directly affect you, and you just go on living your life. Then all of a sudden, the shit is up close and personal and your stuck. That is terrifying.

You can live a healthy life and still get cancer. Or MS or ALS, or several other diseases. Or, you know, get in a car accident.
