I was in Scottsdale for a conference and that is a perfect explanation for what it felt like (minus the desert hiking)

I feel like characters are easier because you put on their costume and you should be good to go. Doc McStuffins wears pigtails, a lab coat, and cute bow, some stuffed animals....your kid has an adorable costume.

I can totally see how there’s a range of dressing up with makeup that (while definitely not right) goes from “but I really love this person and want to look like him/her” to Al Jolson level of insulting.

Ok, that’s too far. Go to your room and think about what you’ve done!

I read the headline and was like “nobody needs to read this garbage!”....but I really want to read the comments below the garbage, so....here I am! I’m an asshole.

Oh that wig is an atrocity and the insane part is that she probably went really far out of her way (or her assistant did) and pay a fortune for it. It’s not a party city, grabbed off the wall, polyester wig.

Great article. Thanks.

I don’t know anything about her that hasn’t been written about here, but from what I can gather she’s fairly delusional, so I’ll assume it doesn’t factor into this verdict but probably makes other things terrible.

Fair take. And frankly, I can’t think of any reason I ever would, because I’d be afraid of being construed as an asshole, EVEN if I had nothing but pure loving sentiments.

So obviously a character is much easier, you want to go as someone from Black Panther-wear the costume same as for any other super hero.

I’m sorry if that sounded disrespectful, I certainly didn’t mean a ‘black person’ as the costume, but rather ‘as a person who happens to be a POC’

Real question: is there a way a white person can dress up as a black person and it not be offensive? It just seems so fraught that I personally wouldn’t touch it with a 100 foot pole. But, hypothetically, if a non Real Housewife wanted to go to a costume party as a black woman, is there a way to do it respectfully?

What’s really weird is that they seem not to work for some babies. I only have one kid and it’s all I’ve used except the hospital ones, but my nephew couldn’t wear them and it blows my mind.

This is what I was about to say. If you buy target brand biggest box diapers they work out to roughly $0.18/perdiaper. If you can’t afford the $27 for the box/can’t get to a big box store/don’t have a place to store the giant fucking box, then it gets way more expensive quickly

I think as a society we’re super reactionary and there’s a very arbitrary tipping point after which you’re banished from public. On the left and the right. Someone falls under the wrong criticism microscope and they’re not allowed to work anymore. It’s (arbitrarily) black and white.

I don’t think the right gives two shits about threats made as art or as actual threats. I think they actively encourage it. I-personally-don’t think encouraging violence as a joke, art, or otherwise should be applauded. I don’t think Kathy Griffin should be ostracized or banished, I just think this was a very ugly

If Dax Sheppard and Kristin Bell divorce, I will be truly devastated.

I’m glad for her she’s working and seemingly doing well and I can’t believe that I’m going to say this...but....depicting violence against public figures is a slippery slope. There was a whole lot of violent images of Obama during his presidency and if it wasn’t ok then, it’s not ok now.

I’m impressed by her work. I’d be very happy if my work looked like that.

I know it’s cool to shit on Katherine Heigl, but I’d be thrilled if I’d gotten 4 knitting projects done since October. My knitting lives in my purse, in my constant state of ‘I really want to knit, why is there no time?’
