I guess your AC adapter is staying with the dock, so it looks like you may need to go back to Nintendo’s last portable. Yes, I’m talking about the console that was proven to be portable by none other than you: the Wii U. (And hey, you can play Breath of the Wild on it.)

I’m talking about dedicated video game consoles in the current console generation. Something like an iPad wouldn’t qualify. And the fact that the PSP and Vita got away with not having rumble is part of the point I was trying to make. It was a different time. Technology and expectations were different. But the Switch

I wasn’t saying that I’d pay $200 for a smaller Switch. I was saying that I would pay $200 for a Switch Lite with one major feature added back to it (either HD Rumble or docking). I think they took too much out when they were designing the Switch Lite.

When it was first announced, I loved the idea of the Switch Lite. It looked stylish and sturdy, and that $200 price point was very attractive. I even pre-ordered one at GameStop and defended it online. But the more I thought about it, the more my opinion on it soured.

That’s a good question. It seems like kind of a no-brainer since it’s something fans have been wanting for a long time. I’m hoping they’ll surprise us with an announcement by the end of this year for a new F-Zero that will be out sometime in 2020.

Now playing

Sega recently attempted to replicate it with an homage to ActRaiser called SolSeraph, but I’ve heard it isn’t very good.

I was excited for the Jaguar too, and I was overjoyed when I actually got it for Christmas. And then I ended up playing exactly ONE really good game on it (Alien vs. Predator). What a dud of a console.

I know what you mean. That’s what sticks out in my mind from back then too.

Yeah, F-Zero is a little too hard to be fun for very long. Even when revisiting it on my Wii U, it didn’t take too long before I had had enough of its difficulty.

It’s hard for me to remember that far back because I wasn’t even a teenager at the time, but I think the big ones for me in magazine previews were Super Mario World and ActRaiser. ActRaiser in particular had a next gen wow factor to its visuals (and it ended up being one of the better games on the Super Nintendo in my

I think F-Zero still holds up on a technical level. It looks good and feels pretty good to play. Not my favorite racing experience ever, but I enjoyed revisiting it on my Wii U. But yes, I vastly prefer F-Zero GX. I want to see either a remaster of that game or a brand new F-Zero like it on Switch.

I’m just about to get a Switch (the new one in the red box), so I appreciate the heads-up on that Super Mario Odyssey deal. I jumped on it.

Makes sense. If you’re 28 now, then you would have been too young to properly experience Final Fantasy VII when it was first released.

This really makes the SAD Edition seem even worse. I love what’s been done with the Xbox brand over the last few years, but that was a baffling misstep. That thing should have been priced at $150 with no games and a trial Game Pass membership.

From the front, this looks like a really expensive party favor at a gender reveal party.

That’s not the only issue. Even if you did manage to figure out a workaround for docking the Lite, you’d be playing in portable mode image quality on your TV.

Sword of the Berserk: Guts’ Rage is what I consider the Dreamcast’s best game. It was the only reason I kept the console as long as I did (I finally traded in my Dreamcast this year).

I love doing this kind of thing. You can pretty easily do the same thing in Mass Effect: Andromeda. You can get past the shimmering map barrier on the worlds you visit with enough persistence.

Is it weird that I’m excited about Too Human being on that list? I’m immediately curious about it because it’s a Silicon Knights game, and then of course there’s the matter of the controversy surrounding it.

The Gears 5 part of the presentation was strange. The creepy character stuff leading into it was fine, but that should have been followed by at least five minutes of campaign gameplay footage (especially since we’re talking about a game that’s going to be out in September). Was there any campaign footage at all? I
