The first similar car that comes to mind that had the same completeness to its all-new-ness was when the R35 GT-R came out over a decade ago. That was a monster killer at the time with its crazy low starting price (that didn’t last long) that was already higher than the C8 will be over a decade later!

I’m kind of curious why the story included zero mentions of GM’s only previous production mid-engine (RMR) car? For all of the rumors that the Corvette supposedly had on its development and cancellation, as well as previous Pontiac concepts, why did the article completely shy away from mentioning the Fiero?

That is awesome, I take my hat off to you and your LL8.

Not to worry, I still get annoyed that the whole Atlas family lasted such a short time.

Eh, I was hesistant when I first saw the pictures, but I reserved judgement until I saw them in the flesh. I thought they were better than the pictures, at least. And now that I am seeing them on the road, theyre quickly growing on me. It took a long time for me to get used to the 2007 models, and I still dont like

Any word on when a performance tune for the 17(?)+ 2.3L will be coming out? I have a friend with one and I think were both disappointed that he hasnt had the option like the older Ecoboost Mustangs have had.

Believe it or not, that still is the LS7 in there. The big bore from the LS7 (4.125") with the crazy small stroke from that custom crankshaft (3.000") gives the final 5.3 liters. The big bore allows bigger valves that let the thing breathe up into those RPM.

“Approx. Peak Engine HP = (quarter mile trap speed/234)^3 * Race Weigh”

Thanks for doing a big typing of that so I didnt have to. And I didnt feel like writing that much today. Double gold star for you.

Keep saying this, I need the prices to come down more.

I always wanted to be a comparison test of “The Last of the Manual Entry-Level Luxury Sedans.” With a better name.

Ah, the Coupe60. I want(ed) this car so bad, it really could have made a big impression. (Sales? Nah, dont worry about that yet, they needed to get people excited again first.) A Pontiac lineup with the G8, GTO, Ute, second gen Solstice, and an entry level coupe/sedan like an improved G6 would have been fantastic.

I still have a friend who prefers non-ABS. TO be fair, I think he just prefers it in snow, where ABS can actually be worse, especially older ABS systems.

As others are replying, there are cars with both out there already.  My Golf R has AEB, ACC (radar cruise control), lane keep assist, and a manual transmission.  My only complaint, really, is that I wish I could use regular cruise control and turn on the ACC if I felt like it would be a benefit on the drive.  AEB has

Be quiet! I want to import one of these and they’re already too expensive!

Dont forget the Kappa (Solstice). And Im sure that a second gen G6 would have been a great alternative to the Accord Sport, it would have debuted after the interior rennaisance at GM. Look at the difference between a 2004 Malibu and a 2008 Malibu. Apply that with a Pontiac touch and premium upgrade price.

Except that for about 20 or more years, depending on how you look at it, Pontiac was not being managed in a way that made sense. Only in the last few years were they getting back on track to be GMs BMW/Dodge. Things were finally getting back on track to get those customers in the dealership.

Hey, that’s me!

Thank you, and you’re welcome. I’m a little bit mind blown that this thing has 10:1 static compression, runs 22psi boost pressure, and makes max rated power/torque on regular gasoline. And tu further baffle the old school turbo people, this thing is even aluminum block/head and a composite intake manifold! I imagine
