Gotta love how insurance companies have to “Protect their profits”, aka just making up prices to make sure they maintain margin. It’s a bit dodgy really. Not that there’s an alternative.

Considering it’s street parked and in a “rough” area it’s not all bad really. I think my decent amount of no claims years might count though. Still, it seems pricey considering it was for a 32yr old with no convictions etc. There were companies doing it cheaper but wanted to black box me (NOPE!).

I guess it all depends

Yep, seems like we actually get it easy over here, even though we’re still technically being shafted, it’s not as bad as we thought.
£700 for a ‘17 Golf R and £250 for an ‘01 ZX6. Though it may cost more this renewal with my fresh 4 points...

Came here to say this. There’s a whole lot of world out there and a whole lot of guys who didn’t have to go through the chop.

I was thinking the same thing, though I have seen an awful lot of people here in the UK with the (speed limited to 50mph) spare on doing 100mph. I wouldn’t be surprised if this person was one of them, the spare disintegrated and they thought it was a big pot hole.

I had a 170 20v V5 in the Seat Toledo. Kinja is kinjaing me out of uploading a pic though.

The engine was one of the only real highlights of the car. It sounded utterly wonderful, unfortunately, the rest of the car was pretty much rubbish.

Imagine a mk4 Golf build quality, then short change some of the suppliers

I’m going to try notes first but land registry should be able to help if I’m willing to pay the small fee. Hopefully I shouldn’t have to. And even more hopeful that there’s one or two spare.

I’m slipping a note under the doors this week.

This is a massive problem for a lot of people I know. We, as car people, want to buy or rent a property based on how good the garage is.
We all know we can live in a house/apartment/tipi, it’ll be fine. But can all my projects/nice vehicles sit in temperature controlled dry storage? That’s a deal maker or breaker.

I’m

Right, I totally know that they were doing this to deter people in future, but surely, those cars were worth more to the government if they sold them (after exporting them) and pocketed that cash. That’s still a deterrent right? Then we wouldn’t have to be quite so anguished to see a Manta GTE, R5 GTT and Z1 going

The thing to remember as well is, although it may seem like a bargain at $2500, Tata were aiming to make a profit on them. So cost price should be even lower than that purchase price, which obviously makes it even more impressive a thing.

Obviously they were banking on economies of scale to achieve those profits and

Honestly, I was trying to hold back the tears with that tiny 962 section. It was just what I’d always wanted to do. I thought I was weird. Turns out I’m not that weird.

Aw, did I trigger you son? Did I hurt your Audi’s feelings? Bless you for thinking I’ve never driven an Audi for any length of time too. It’s ok, you’re right, S3's are so much faster with exactly the same running gear. Shall I get you some lotion for the butthurt?

I mean I’m not doubting you at all here, but where?
UK Dependability (faults per 100 vehicles) is second bottom:

It is a stark contrast. They’re much more utilitarian/common here and that taints their image a tad. I think if I were in the US I’d probably prefer Audi’s current lineup more.

Funnily enough, you’re right. Lexus’ are incredibly dull to drive, like anesthetic. But Audi’s arent’ much better in their humdrum form, blandness with a bit of a harsher ride for added “sport”.
Some Audis make great noises, I excepted their RS line and other actual sporty Audis, but then Lexus do that sort of thing

Yeah but Lexus are actually reliable and although I don’t necessarily like their “Predator mouth” styling, they at least have some design in there.
Audi prefer the whole “not quite reliable enough to be good, not quite bad enough to be awful” and then apply it in broad strokes to almost everything they do including

Right, so I know Audi are fairly “nice” cars, as in, people I know call them “nice”. I guess that means they’re “luxury” or “premium”.
But surely they’re the most boring version of this “premium” car thing? I know they make some decent/interesting vehicles (RS# or R8 etc) but on the whole it’s a case of premium bland

If they ban them, can they maybe ensure the ban applies to all public service vehicles too?
Here in the UK, I think the ban might make a big difference if this was the case. There are a lot of cities that would benefit if their local transit authorities were able to decide what fuel they ran buses/repair vehicles on

I always see the reviewers on the newer Peugeots complaining of this and think “so alter the steering wheel height”. It bugs the hell out of me as well. It’s a novel solution to an age old problem. I honestly think some of the more mainstream journos are getting to a point where they don’t care at all about cars
