Same happens with any current JLR or British car, “lolz OMG LUCAS ELECTRICS r bad yo” or somthing along those lines. Meh.

So a subsidiary achieves better profits and you punish them? How is that good business sense?

Damnit, voted NP by accident, can I get a do-over? Damn coffee addled reaction times.

Neutral: I did buy (well, company car, lease etc) a new Golf R after the scandal.

Honestly, knowing what we do about the scandal itself, the workaround that VW came up with, I think we can safely assume they weren’t the only ones and were simply the ones caught out first. That seems to be fairly common a consensus,

A VR6 Beetle isn’t a bad idea, unfortunately, this one is just badly realised.

Didn’t they do a V5 Beetle from the factory? Wouldn’t that make this redundant and badly done?

It’s the weirdest thing though. Honestly, having visited the dealer in person multiple times, I had a great experience. Greeters on the door, no pushy sales, plenty of inventory to poke around (including Alpinas and a box fresh i8). I’ve visited on and off, multiple times, had the same decent experience each time.

They seem to do it mostly Europe wide. Base model Golfs can come with whatever option you select, the same with Polos. It seems odd having grown up with that being “normal” that anyone would do it differently, the joys of being European I guess.

“couldn’t get a test drive without first telling them “how much he wanted to pay per month.””

Actually had this with a BMW dealer myself. Ended up having to go direct to BMW UK business to get around it (with help from my favourite broker). I won’t ever be recommending them to anyone for as long as I am bitter... (aka

It’s a real kick in the nuts for Lotterer and I feel for him. It’s horrible that it has happened twice, especially after LMP1 seemed in such rude health not that long ago (it really doesn’t feel that long since it was Audi, Porsche, Toyota and Nissan). And I like that Tandy has a much more pragmatic approach too, I

We had a similar issue with JLR dealers when the previous gen XF was on a run-out before the new model. No chance of a build, said some dealers, others would just put you straight to what you needed. To the point that we ended up not ordering from the local (Leicester UK) dealer, but one in Edinburgh, because they had

Yeesh, I guess Jeremy really doesn’t want to commute anymore, like, at all!

Yeah, that’s what I meant about the “setting up custom ordering from the start”. Toyota/Lexus would never have had that capacity built in from the beginning, it’s a build first sell later idea so has no need or ability for custom orders.

Goddamn, VW. I knew they owned Scania and MAN but why would Scania not settle when MAN did? Are they going to scuttle Scania to preserve market share and offload the fines on to the brand they want to kill off? I hope not. As I did once sell used trucks in the past, I like Scania like I used to love SAAB. Don’t you

Weird that Lexus don’t offer that level of ordering from the factory, it seems fairly common for most of the “premium” Euro brands to have such a system set up.
I mean I can see Lexus’ point, they are making volume premium vehicles and only have enough room in the manufacturing stream for certain things, but the big

How’s the steering feel/feedback?
What’s the storage space like? Awful or carefully thought out like Honda used to?
Would a 6'5" guy like me really struggle with it or is it about as good as an MX5/Miata for internal room.
What’s the engine noise like? Muted? Boomy? Sporty but civilised?

I may be vaguely tempted by one

Skipped straight to CP. Then noticed people had voted NP, aka, more than one person. People, plural. Like, how?
Haven’t found one in the comments, are you just trying to ruin our 100% score on this thing?

But Aston Martin get most of their current road car engine tech from AMG...

So is Red Bull getting a Merc power unit through someone else’s backdoor? (arf)

As it’s a “special vehicle” from the skunkworks I have a feeling it may still be included as a cost option, just from previous experience of the JLR options list on these SVR cars at least.

That’s a very happy TVR.
Also, hello classic TVR touches (aka parts bin parts from other cars). Fiesta vents and steering column/indicator stalks.
That means I’m disappointed it no longer has “indicators mounted on the ceiling” but happy that parts will be more reliable in operation...

I can’t bring myself to spend money on one, maybe if someone I knew had one and I tried it I may hate it less, that’s only a “may” and “less”.
