It really really is.
It really really is.
Neutral: I am a Millennial, I refuse to believe that I’m “one of them” though.
Not sayin’ I’m not actually a Millennial, I am, just that I’m not one of those “settling” types. I’m 32 and don’t want kids. Still renting, on my second new car (both company vehicles) in 2 years, which is lucky as I couldn’t afford to run…
It’s a veritable, vaudevillian velour vehicle of verifiable value to villainous vulgarians.
Thing is, I hate that I hate them too. I mean I like Beetles, Minis and Fiat 500s (the originals at least). I just cannot work out why I hate 2CVs so much!!!!!
Had the pleasure of seeing DBR1/5 at the Donington Historics last year. Just tucked away with nobody looking after it, no ropes or anything holding any of us plebs back.
Honestly, it wasn’t necessarily the nicest car there, but it had so much presence even sat on it’s own in the paddock.
I can definitely see why…
Citroen 2CVs.
As a European (I don’t admit to being from the UK anymore...), I understand their cultural significance. As and engineer, I understand their practicalities and utter pragmatism at approaching their original brief. I respect them, especially the people who race them.
But like them? No. I utterly despise…
Yeah, this is Jalopnik, how many V6 mustangs? That’s the only thing we measure by round here.
/tongue in cheek mode
Knowing that car, I probably would’ve ended up with a rock in the face as it rebounded off theft-proofed glass that I didn’t realise it had..
My ‘89 Passat B3 wagon was a real charmer, unfortunately it had a lot of character, both from age and from my bodged fixes. One involves a handy hotel janitor and a feather duster.
Great piece. I find myself wishing for more people to understand that this is ok, non-monogamy is an ok and perfectly acceptable way to conduct a grown up relationship, I just wish it was more understood.
I’ve been in a great open relationship before (swinging) but found that I really was more down with Polyamory than…
Right, I know I should have read it all past the title, but Jag XJR (X308) with the supercharged V8 for $2500? Honestly, if it runs at all NP.
Right, I better go read the article yeah?
If you don’t know, you don’t know, nod nod, wink wink, know what I mean?
Source: I don’t have a clue.
Not normally a national pride kinda guy, but local pride, yeah I’m on with that. And it is lovely to see a locally (5 miles from my childhood home) produced car getting some love.
That said, there’s a fair bit from sunny Leicestershire, including Triumph and Noble.
Everything has an operating life, heat cycled parts especially. No it doesn’t rotate so won’t fail and explode but using a heat exchange device in a hot operating Lamborghini, a performance vehicle not known for good heat management, isn’t something I’d really want to futz with.
I had loads of end of life parts from…
Yeah, I can’t get what it’ll do for him. I mean, I can’t listen to the audio on the vid at the moment but does he know the flow rate? The “lifed” hours of the parts in the intercooler? I’m guessing these things won’t have been provided with the part itself in with the sale, as such, I don’t fancy the chances of usage…
And we’ll have a new GT1.... YAY!
Actually, though the idea of the 90's GT1 mentalness excites me, it would just end up doing exactly the same thing as LMP1 did, getting too expensive.
You’re right though, an eWEC would be more than a little odd at night. No flames, no engine noises to work out what just went by.
It’s a bit like going to see an F1 race and only watching the supporting formula though. Don’t get me wrong, I love GT endurance racing and go to plenty of events just to watch them on their own but without the big guns it feels a little more anemic.
Just as I make plans to go to Le Mans next year, this happens. Figures. I best not plan to go to the TT instead eh?
As you say, it is a real shame that Formula E doesn’t have as much to offer race fans as it does manufacturers. Honestly if the new FE rules being brought in that allow more development on…
YAAAAY my home city is on Jalopnik.
Oh, BOOOO it’s for something utterly hilarious and bad.
You win some you lose 9.
Yeah, we have weird rules. We can have an emblem on the plate like a football team or country flag but can’t change the letter format much. There always has to be numbers in there and it can’t be in a format that makes your car appear newer than it is (because our plates show how old your car is when they’re not…
