No kidding when I grabbed that image off of Google I didn’t even notice that the car actually had Oregon plates. There ya go.

Portland, Oregon
It’s the ultimate hipster luxury car.
Because it’s a pretty, well balanced rear wheel drive coupe with a 400hp TT engine that will be at an affordable price point?
I live in the PNW and am into camping, hiking, skiing, mountain biking and that sort of stuff and have multiple friends with Crosstreks, all of whom benefit from the clearance.
In my book low range is the biggest deal(MT or no, if you’re in a situation that makes you feel like you’re abusing the clutch on a manual you’d still be abusing the automatic, it’s just less obvious). Beyond the added torque it means you’re far less likely to break something else, far less likely to seriously dig…
Yeah I’ve been there too. Not much bothers me more than the classic Subie off roader convinced that his Subie goes everywhere a Jeep, Tacoma or 4Runner can. “I always see truck based 4x4s going everyplace I do!” they confidently exclaim as they post a picture of it three wheeling on a small obstacle, not realizing…
Lol that was my dad’s plan with his 1.5 gen MDX. It would’ve been like 7 or 8 years old when I got my license, a little nicer and bigger than my parents really thought seemed appropriate but it was safe, practical and still had a ton of life left for me, plus my dad was thinking he was about ready for a new car and the…
I’ll keep my eyes out! Mine’s a magnetic short bed, lifted with an Eezi-Awn(it’s actually a Tepui, Eezi-Awn covers are just much better designed so I got one of those when my zipper failed). Mine’s pretty easy to spot because the tent’s on a short rack offset to one side with either maxtrax or a ski rack on the other…
Hey based off the ‘Cascade cement’ mention sounds like we live in the same neck of the woods, I’m in Portland.
I tend to use it if I’m in the rocks and likely to be lifting wheels or near that point. Usually in those cases ATRAC would probably get you through but the locker is smoother and easier.
ATRAC is the shit! I have similar usage(feels like a lot more 4-low off roading but considering how slow the going is the many hours probably only amount to a few hundred miles) and it’s amazing in situations like off camber snow or mud where the locker will just make you slide sideways but ATRAC manages to massage…
They wouldn’t. I use mine off road as much as anyone and am definitely glad I went with a 4-door. Even if I’m not taking more than one other person when you’re on an off road or overland trip it makes it much easier to keep organized if some things are in the cab and some in the bed. Not to mention the fact that…
If the concepts are the paint on your truck and wheeling in the Pacific Northwest they are!
I guess, I’m all for taking care of your things but not when that means being afraid to use them.
I’m 99% sure it turns itself back off again under 30 mph but now I’m second guessing myself. Especially since lifting it I’ve toned back the tomfoolery, seen entirely too many videos of trucks catching and rolling.
Yeahhh Toyota engineer or no he’s flat out wrong. A quick press of the traction control button makes it stop cutting power but keeps the brake vectoring. This can make it feel like it’s cutting power because it is very aggressive with the brake vectoring. Toyota 4x4s equipped with ATRAC or MTS use a hydroboost system…
Meh, it’s just paint. Never really understood why everyone gets their panties in a twist about paint scratches. Also actually that color will probably pretty much hide em. One of my off road buddies used to have a yellow FJC that was just as scratched up as mine but you could only see really close up at the perfect…
Jesus, so these guys aren’t just stuck on a ship for an indeterminate amount of time, they’re stuck on a ship full of probably by now rotting animals for an indeterminate amount of time?
You realize that the people who crew on this sort of ship, especially the sort of ship run by the sort of owners that would leave them high and dry for years instead of properly managing the dispute, aren’t really in the financial position to just hop on a plane home right? And in some cases the captain could even be…
