I haven’t noticed her accent, but yeah, seems like the series has strayed far from the book anyway. There’s no real reason I can see for her to be Russian.

I only know her from this show. The character irritates me. And near the beginning of the series, it seemed like she was copying Annie Murphy’s Alexa mannerisms from Schitt’s Creek. Maybe I’d like her better in a different show. But I can’t even figure out why they’re there. Maybe the book made more sense of that.

😂😂😂

Yeah, especially after how supportive she was towards him when he blamed himself.

Wow, I hadn’t even thought of that! Although I am mad at both parents for pressuring Zoe to do this with them. She was the only one with the sense to be against doing it and she only agreed to after they pressured her. She’s the most sensible person on the show, with Lars maybe next most sensible, which, come to think

I’m hooked on it now, but yes, the show itself is kind of ridiculous. I don’t even know why I’m hooked. But the great cast definitely helps. Also, I love your user name. I used to read the Butter Battle book to my son when he was little.

Many writers know that they’re not writing literary masterpieces but they also want to write well and with a certain amount of depth. That includes romance writers. Frances just doesn’t want to write formulaic, shallow crap. And while many of us tend to assume that’s what romance novels are, there’s no need for them

It’s like you read my mind! I’ve been a little embarrassed that I keep watching this show, especially after all 9 just shrugged off her breaking into their rooms, stealing things (including Tony’s prescription meds), and DRUGGING THEM without informing them. But I really did enjoy this episode. Zoe is especially good

Many good points, although I also think you’re being a little hard on the show (though, as you said, you’re grading it on a curve). My only real concern was that Michael gave Vicky a huge amount of power with no real reason to trust her. By the end, I’d forgotten about that. But it’s weird. Was Michael really another

The phrase “sex slaves” bothers me maybe even more, because it’s so prurient. I prefer “kidnapped child rape victim.” Although even that’s inaccurate, because these kids are raped multiple times daily, so it still downplays how horrible it is.

They also need to stop using the prurient phrase “sex slave.” How about “kidnapped rape victim” instead?

I’m starting to woner if that’s the dirt the Russians have on the GOP that’s keeping them so “loyal” to trump. I had no idea though that so many were looking at child porn. All of this child sex abuse is horrifying.

I didn’t even catch that she didn’t say “not a girl” even though I love when she says that. But it definitely seemed to me as though it was Janet who was switched and not Michael based on their behavior. We know that there are lots of Janets, so the fact that Eleanor was talking to a Bad Janet at the train station

Well said, Annadownya!

I think Jane Fonda is fantastic as Grace. Grace is not a delightful character. She’s strong and tough. Sometimes she’s awful but other times her strength and toughness are inspiring. The other 3 characters are more whimsical.

The feeling I got, having just watched the Season 4 finale, was not that the show gave up on Grace and Frankie but that their kids did. I’m assuming that the show is pointing out the way people condescend to women in their 70s and above (as not just their kids but also the employees of the assisted living center do).

There was a scene wayyyy back where they showed future Jane with a daughter. I’ve wondered, though, if the narrator could be her son (she might have had more than one more child), but that would catapult him way into the future as the adult narrator. Very good point about Alba. Somehow I never thought of that, but I

You’re Catholic, right? The minister wasn’t a priest. ;-) I grew up Catholic and now I’m Unitarian Universalist (I don’t think Universalism is a thing because the two merged in 1960). For a long time, it was weird not calling the ministers “Father” (even the female ones), and I only recently stopped calling the

Thank you for saying Rafael was being proud and petty in his behavior towards Jane. It seems like his anger towards her in earlier episodes was too accepted. If he had a dead wife who suddenly came back to life, I’ll bet Jane would have been upset but understanding. I don’t love the idea that either of them should

He could have communicated that to Jane in a better way. I really hate the way he treated her earlier in the season. I understand his fear of getting hurt, but not his animosity towards Jane after her husband came back from the dead. Anyone in Jane’s situation would be confused and thrown off.
