That's certainly a rather, um, dark interpretation of the film.

Hunger Games probably had the strangest mix of trailers I've ever seen. Twilight, Prometheus, GI Joe, and What to Expect When You're Expecting. If I had gone into the theater not knowing what Hunger Games was, I would have been incredibly nervous about what I was about to watch.

Our current political climate is antithetical to scientific progress, and idiots like Santorum only want to make it worse. It's absolutely appropriate for a science-oriented site like io9 to criticize him.

Not too surprising. io9's reviews seem to be more positive than the norm. Makes sense that a sci-fi and fantasy site would be interested in supporting sci-fi and fantasy projects.

Oh man, I was so obsessed with Brisco County Jr. as a kid. Weird to think it only lasted one season.

I'm guessing "deconstruction of indie rom-coms, specifically the trope of the manic pixie dream girl" probably wouldn't be much better, huh?

It's not a romantic comedy; it's an anti-romantic comedy.

In some alternate universe where justice exists, there's a Superman movie being made that was co-written by Grant Morrison and Mark Waid and directed by Brad bird that will go on to be the highest-grossing film of all time.

I'd never heard of Max Richter before seeing this trailer. Thanks for bringing him to my attention.

I'm not sure that's such a bad thing. Event Horizon may have been a festering turd that was an embarrassment to the film industry, but there was an intriguing premise at its core that could have been made into a good movie had it been made by a competent director instead of Paul W.S. Anderson.

Hahahahaha, that disclaimer should be required for anyone linking to TV Tropes.

A much more interesting (and original) concept would be to put superheroines in non-stripperriffic costumes.

I can't get over how gorgeous this movie looks. No doubt, it's going to be the prettiest horror movie since, well, Alien.

Well there is the small problem of Blade Runner androids not being at all like Alien androids.

I saw League of Extraordinary Gentlemen before I even read the comics, and I thought it was probably the single stupidest thing I had ever watched. I mean, a car chase through Venice? And then I read the comics and realized that it wasn't just incompetence. They had to actively work to screw that one up.

How bad is Exorcist 2 that it's beating the pants off LXG? That movie was putrid.

Anjelica Huston.

So someone please explain to me why this isn't a full length series? Do DC and Cartoon Network have some aversion to success that keeps them from greenlighting a project that would be a sure-fire grand slam hit?

Don't hate Battlefield Earth for its ties to Scientology. Hate Scientology for spawning Battlefield Earth.

That movie is such an insanely glorious mess. I have trouble understanding how anyone could hate it.
