actually, Rob, the character in the image is the show's "sad sack" . He basically lives in the comic book store, is friends with the main characters, but they don't include him in any of their activities, and he is terribly luckless with women.

If they had shown maybe one flash-forward episode showing Old Janeway living in a hellish-Borg War future I would have been much more OK with the ending, but as far as I remember they did not.

Yeah, the Borg. They were and entire race of beings and she just Ended Them. The idea that the Federation was somehow superior to the single-minded, assimilating Borg goes out the window when a Federation representative does to them what they'd been doing to others.

I don't know. I haven't yet seen the movie. People who have seen it say it's Vegas. I happen to know there are no desert or mountain features in New York City, so Vegas seems the obvious alternative.
