A lot of people need one vehicle to do it all since the price of new cars is so much. Trucks fill that that space the best. 

Why do you care what others do with their money? Do you have a spare bedroom? Do you own more land than your house footprint? Those are both things that people over buy. 

To say the mustang isnt a sports car is just incorrect. It pulls 0.97g in the skidpad. I bet your BMW Z3 is much more “sporty”.....

I forgot that a nearly 500hp is necessary and has no societal, environment or cultural issues. Lets let everyone have a 500hp cars that seats one passenger and gets 15mpg. GREAT IDEA!!!!!!

Couldnt agree more. Just wanted to make the Authors of this awesome website have just a bit of critical thinking when it comes to trucks. I am not saying trucks are the end all be all, but there IS a reason other than “douch brodozer” that these vehicles sell in such massive numbers. 

Most people have one vehicle. If I had $40k to spend and I was the average joe, a truck makes SO much more sense. Seats more. Higher resale. More comfortable. Tons of utility. MORE fuel efficient.

I didnt see the part where they discussed the unused utility of a sports car in traffic. If Jalopnik wants to harp on trucks being wastes of resources and then NOT say the same for a 500hp sports car....its just tiring and lopsided.

Jalopnik has never had the hot take of “Sports cars are not efficient” but yet they have the hot take that “trucks are stupid” at least twice a week.

So your telling me that if I had $40k to spend, its great to buy this Mustang that seats 2 humans and 2 mini humans and gets 15c/25h mpg but its TERRIBLE that I buy a F150 that is $40k, seats 5 to 6 adult humans, and gets 21c/28h mpg?

GM’s Tahoe and Suburban are testaments to this. Those fucking things fly off the lot almost as fast as a sale on Silverados.

Its BMW, they are just going to keep the i8 but call it the iS6 so they can make room for the all new iS8 which will be a three row, race car for the road, with a towing capacity of 8000lbs, and joystick controls.

You gotta mess with the statistics a bit and tell everyone how “unsafe” normal video game driving is and that Tesla’s $8k super drive-your-car-by-itself system (that cant actually drive the car by itself) is so much safer when your out there trying to dodge bananas and green turtle shells.

The more simple fix is for YOU to not look at the comments. Hell, they barely load any more. Sounds to me like you come here looking to complain, find out what you want to complain about (complain about the complainer?) and fire off post after post about how those people need to leave.
