Agree. This is why I think Porsche is a “HUGE step in the right direction....but” the but meaning that Porsche isnt immune to people buying it for reasons other than function. Yes, Porsche wants you to drive that GT3 RS but it also wants you to believe that its options are improvements when they are simply accessories

I have an incredibly similar story about “meeting your auto heros”.

This is a HUGE step in the right direction....but this is a company that charges you eliminate door handled for a little fabric loop. Porsche is the KING of option ticking at an expense.

Likewise, and you make me torn! I agree with you and I agree with myself. I think thats the whole reason I agree with you....because both sides can be seen by my brain! It does seem like EV cant sustain themselves without subsidies (oil is subsidized on the back end, lest we forget).

I am reminded of a Randy Pobst quote when talking about air springs “I dont care where my spring rate comes from, as long as it is dampened properly”

Listen, I agree with you on a lot of things. But what does an ICE have over an EV? Noise? Light weight fuel? Ease of refuel? Or is it just stubborn to change?

What? So only repetitive factory workers are important? IF the plant had sold, it would likely have been remodeled (lots of jobs) and then PUT BACK TO FACTORY WORK aka employing people for the long term. Its not like a sale turns this into a waste of land.

OK so lets just all be auto line workers. Screwing three screws into a complex unit. Over and over and over again. Thats reeeeeal quality work there bub.

My guess is turbos. Turbos (forced induction via superchargers really) were first widely used in the aviation industry to combat this very issue.

So now we are belittling others work? Great. Others need to put food on the table as well.

So you are banking everything on GM now......what if they idle the plant next fall? What happens then?

Are you glad that thousands of people missed out on all the construction jobs a new facility would have employed? Or the land surveyor, engineers, service providers, etc? What about those folks who depend on property development and redevelopment? Care at all for those folks?

And the UAW is going to pop a few bottles of very expensive champagne because, you know, it was completely because of them that this is happening. And then Trump will tweet out how his policies are bringing back US Manufacturing jobs.

Agree on all point. Well said.

I had to LOL at that one myself.

Rivian, as they still believe the driver is a key part of the equation to personal transportation.

It has to do with use of engine as well as specs of the class. I will admit that my knowledge on the particulars is not the best but it loosely has to do with power vs torque and when you want it in the rev range. Typically the longer the stroke, the more torque (think big, slow, lumpy idle of a drag racing

I have all my vaccines. Care to pass any other wrong judgments? Sickness kills a lot of people a year. Move on.

opinions matter. often different.

OK, to be fair my use of the word “us” probably wasnt the best choice. Let me adjust for the record to “Erik Shilling, you are not passionate about cars”. Moving on from that one word.... the criticism is still far from morally wrong, let along fundamentally. If anything Erik is doing the public some form of injustice
