This sounds suspiciously like the “sporty crossover” so many commenters lament. Some think the Alltrack lift is dumb, but a lifted GTI is good?

We can get close! Alltrack with a tune and a suspension swap is *about* gti quick and *about* gti handley. I personally would have liked a gti wagon, but hey here we are.

A family member of mine got the absolute shit beat out of himself over a drunken Harley > everything else arguement. Like barstool-over-the-back-ER-and-never-really-recover bad. Harleys are ok but I wouldn't personally take a barstool (or knife...or gun) in the name of brand loyalty.

I knew a guy who knew a guy who turboed one of these around 2004-2005. Never saw it run without a slipping clutch, but the first bit of a dyno run looked decent.

Alone in my ‘17 Golf Alltrack, I drove through fresh snow that was easily above the bottom of my doors, stopped, took a photo, and got going again no problem. Two days later when the snow was more packable, I had some buddies in the car and wanted to show off the incredibly capable 4motion. Snow packed up to the frame

Also reporting for duty. Bought a new Alltrack, tuned it, and will add R suspension. 10/10 would have bought a GTI wagon or possibly stretched for an R wagon. Or a 335/340 wagon. Or a WRX hatch/wagon. Or an A4 wagon.

There’s a scene in Drive where Ryan Gosling is hauling across a bridge in the no-one-will-be-looking-at-you-kid Chevy and the sound is running through a couple gears but the tach never moves. Super distracting.

The sound of a connecting pin letting loose, giving its life for a bit of moderate acceleration. RIP EcoBoost mustang.

A couple comments from the greys: I wanted a manual Alltrack but wound up with DSG because it was discounted something like $5k more than the manual.

I had a 2015 mustang EcoBoost and a 2003 manual Jetta wagon winter beater. The mustang blew up one day, so I drove my Jetta maybe 10 miles over to my cousin’s place to get the summer tires on. Before I got it back home, it sputtered and died THE SAME DAY. I went to pop the hood and the cable broke. I went to open the

Can we start an “Alltrack wave” if I spot you in Milwaukee?

I very much like my Alltrack. It will fit a 650+ mtb with the front wheel off, feels nice for the price, has room for a little modification if you’re into it, gets decent mpg, dsg, pano roof, tons of space but still maneuverable, on and on! Only thing I’m not sure about is the driver’s height being comfortable, but

The face looks like it will be close to the concept, but the photo seems distorted by whatever lens was used. Kind of like how some lenses make a face look more thin, only this looks almost like a fisheye lens.

I bought a new Alltrack. The DSG ($1100 upcharge on paper) came in $5,500 LESS than the manual because the dealer knew supply was limited and someone would pay it. That was a sad day.

Heated steering wheel. Hello from WI.

My older brother told me that the trick to avoiding deer in rural WI is to drive faster at night. That way they’ll end up jumping out BEHIND you instead of in front of you.

Perfect.

I had an MKX as a loaner for about two months while my mustang motor was being replaced. It was the 300ish horsepower, AWD version. For a brief few moments, I kind of “got” the crossover appeal. Anonymous, spacious, comfortable, smooth, etc. It sucked the fun out of driving, absolutely, but it was pretty dang
