In 2010ish, my cousin and I both owned bugeye WRXs at the same time, so we organized a small Subaru gathering. The plan was to meet near a lake, grab some food, and hit some curvy roads before sundown.

A YJ Wrangler. Manual, 4 cylinder, soft top, and basically trash. I owned it for about three weeks, in which time the brakes failed (rust), steering stabilizer failed (rust), and 4wd failed (rust). I did approach 70mph once or twice with a strong tailwind, and watching the road zip by through the 6" hole in the…
1st gear: I almost succumbed to the beige takeover when my commute turned into an hour each way. After a few “sensible” test drives, I’ll continue to DD my manual mustang, winter and all. At least for now...
These things all have too much door and not enough glass. Try to fool me with the plastic stuff breaking it up, sure, but the proportions only look right if I put my thumb over the whole rocker/lower door area.
Most of my millennial-aged car buds are buying and building stuff that’s cooler than most new cars and they’re spending half the money. If I had purchased something cheap, used, and responsible instead of a new mustang, I’d probably be in the same boat with something Japanese from the ‘90s and still have a useable car…
Road trip in a van/RV for the week. Also lusting after my mustang ecoboost which has been at the dealer for over a month. So many crowds left untouched. :(
W124?
A YJ Wrangler from my uncle. I was in an accident with my J30 which wasn’t worth towing 2 hours home, so I snagged this Jeep for $500. We had to push start it with a tow chain, there were BIG holes in the floor, and the soft top was beat. Oh yeah, and it was winter in WI. Within my month of ownership, I experienced…
I have one! I was maybe 22, kind of broke, and needed a car. I was working and in school at the time, but also had little regard for making 100% sensible choices. Enter the bugeye WRX.
