I'd also recommend looking into the making of "Casablanca". The short story is the script was a mess and had numerous teams/individuals touching it, each lending a specific expertise to the script, ultimately comin together as one of the most highly regarded films of the 20th century.

So I guess all those great movies of Hollywood's Golden Age weren't so great after all?

I think part of the reason why I'm not inclined to use soap even if it's OK is because, after years of not using it on my cast iron pans I haven't really come across too many times when I needed to. Usually a good scraping and, for really stuck stuff, scrubbing with salt takes care of everything.
