Time out

If you’re going to try for second, keep going for third. All she - er, they can do is say no. And if she's - er, I mean, the ump? - doesn't call you out, then keep going home, where you can...score? I don't know, some metaphor about fucking.

I have to say, despite the fact that ball players at any level are trained to the absolute max in most cases, I'm amazed that stuff like this doesn't happen more often.

They have to drop this Eddie Murphy shit. It’s wonderful that he was The Man in the ‘80s. Other than a couple blips, though, the last 20 of his career have been mostly dogshit. Maybe it's time to stop referring to him as a legend that you should emulate your career after.

While all of you were hanging out with BOB DYLAN, I was mentioning Almost Famous.

I’ve been reading reactions to Black Widow’s death everywhere, and something doesn’t seem to occur to anybody.

Rudd’s expression upon seeing Cassie was absolutely tonally perfect. Shocked, happy, sad, on the verge of tears but not sure why. Perfect.

Sir, this is the women's restroom.

Well, in the case of Community, where was Aaron Davis to blast them all back in time?

I’m fat, and I approve of Fat Thor.

I’d say the one moment in that whole opener that you didn't mention that sticks out for me is Thanos crushing the Tesseract WITH HIS FUCKING HAND. It had been the main thrust of two (and eventually three) MCU films, and he turned it to sawdust in seconds. That was a big moment.

See, I thought the exact opposite. They needed to introduce him, so they did the Vienna bombing. He gets involved only out of vengeance, and doesn't seem to care about anything other than killing Bucky. He's a more complex character in his own film.

Civil War doesn’t hold up very well because almost nothing that happens holds any bearing on future movies, other than determine where everybody is physically when Thanos shows up.

Even the most devout AV Club loyalist can admit that the website’s Marvel Moments tend to have a problem when it comes to bitching about the fight scenes in a space that’s ostensibly about a celebration of the MCU.

This was a thoughtful, well-written article that got saddled with a sarcastic dumpster fire of a first comment.

I’m not saying it was “bad,” just cheesy and a hair unnecessary. It didn’t slow the story down or anything. It was really just used to give the Colonel a final push into agreeing to use Rogers. The above-highlighted ass-beating (and subsequent recounting of other previous ass-beatings) did a better job of highlighting

Let’s all remember that Thor usually has no great resistance when throwing Mjolnir or Stormbreaker. This time, he had an enormously powerful force pushing against it, so who's to say that if the axe was unobstructed it wouldn't have been a head shot?

“It’s just cheese and bread.”

The grenade scene was a bit cheesy IMO. While noble, it was unnecessarily foolish, as he was standing away from it, and it would have made more sense to back up. Good character beat, just not great decision making.

“Based on Feige’s comments...”
