I thought this too. I guess though it's all about weight, with all the exotic materials, I bet the mass of those pistons is tiny.

I miss the 22,000 rpm days :) Mercedes had an engine then that could hit 24,000 rpm with a push-to-go-nuts button. Crazy to think that they tick over at 5,000 and have tolerances so small, the engines have to travel hooked up to compressed air supplies to keep valves etc under load. When assembled, everything is…
A friend has the previous version vrs, and it is also notable for having a really nice interior too.
Brundle often says this during F1 commentary.
Delivery vehicles is where I see big progress in the future of all electrics. As you said, there is room for the batteries, and business can make proper capital plans around them. I work in the logistics/delivery industry and I know that many local delivery vehicles have daily runs where the total milage covered is…
Terrifying wood shards aside, it still pleases me a great deal that we launch multi-million dollar ships by basically hurling them at the sea.
Although this was the villain's car in the film :)
Yep, for the Fighter, Bristol made their own space-frame chassis. The coolest thing about this car is that the odometer didn't have a mileage readout, but an engine-hours counter.
Mainly as above, but also it's hard to get hold of such engines here in jolly old England. With the radical, it's all about weight. If there's a lighter options, they'll generally take it.
Well, video chiques apart, it was an interesting video. Looks like a welcome dose of complete madness.
Why must every one of these videos start with these ridiculous tracking shots? It's probably going to be an interesting video, but 45 seconds in and I'm already mad.
I have a lot of love for the Mondial, i think it's reached an age where it's starting to look better & better.
I agree, if anything I'm surprised how little it costs per month. I think in the article or comments, it's mentioned that it costs GBP600 a month to lease a bimmer 6-series, so this looks positively good value by comparison.
Yes indeed. I have my exhaust wrapped in a similar way on my Westfield, although it's to help stop heat soak into the floor mounted battery. Was wondering if this is the same deal, but it covers such a small area right at the manifold I was wondering what the purpose was. Everywhere else I've seen the wrap it normally…

Possibly heat wrap. I think it might be to limit the amount of heat welling back into the mounting points? Anyone with some old-school car knowledge care to educate?
Plus AMG get to learn about ways to lighten the car without compromising performance which feeds back into making faster/more economical ICE cars. Unless VM group decided that Porsche is doing enough in the regard with the 918, and they don't want Audi muddying the brand messages.
In this latest video from our pals at Petrolicious, we meet Holger Schubert, a guy with great taste in both automobiles and architecture. His ride of choice is a Ferrari 512 BBi, known as the "Berlinetta Boxer" thanks to its glorious 4.9-liter flat-12 engine. Let that sound fill your ears and make your day so much…
Oh dear. It's just not quite right in every area.
If only this were a car suitable for a Gentleman.
