Not sure if his dash cam was permanent and/or running the day of the crash, but you’re right — if it was filming during the accident, it would provide a lot of clues as to what happened/went wrong.

Keep in mind, this is coming from the guy driving a semi who made a left turn in front of a vehicle coming the other direction (ie, the guy who’s almost certainly considered to be at fault). He’s got a BIT of a vested interest in coming up with some reason why the accident wasn’t his fault.
