I Was Saying Boo-urner

I don;t know who is overhyping this. I think Valve have communicated very clearly about what it is and what it can do, at no point has any detail since its reveal shown it “to be more limited than it first sounded”. Now have influencers et al decided to run amok away from Valve’s clear communication in order to

This is nothing like what steam machines were. This is a single piece of hardware made by Valve. Steam Machines were made by dozens of different companies and were just PC’s that ran a linux based version of Steam. There were $500 steam machines and there were $5,000 steam machines.

Anyone who knows thing 1 about CPU/GPU/AGPUs knows what this thing is capable of. This article is not surprising news whatsoever.

What’s more limited that we’re finding out? That it doesn’t have a secret power boost it never claimed to have? That in the very first interview they clarify the battery life pretty clearly: 2-8 hours, depending. 4 hours on Portal 2, 5-6 with a 30fps cap? You can only play Breath of the Wild for like 3 hours on a

nobody buying this is going to be expecting maxed out graphics settings on modern games. but this device will be able to run the vast majority of the games on Steam at probably medium to high settings. PC games don’t need to be 4K 120FPS. games run just as well at 1080p 60FPS especially on a small screens like this or

I’m ok with that.

Every single article about this thing is full of comments like yours, and every single one has tons of replies saying “me”

How is the switch more versatile? STEAM LIBRARY.

I can’t play my laptop comfortably in bed, or on a couch in an air bnb on holiday while my partner watches TV, or any number of other scenarios where setting up a laptop in an adhoc space would not be comfortable. If you didn’t like a Switch for the exclusives, but did like it for the indies, then this is a fantastic

Me? 41 year old male. I hate laptops. First, they are no replacement for gaming. And why would I lug a laptop to places like the auto mechanic?

That’s not at all true. Show me an actual *gaming* laptop (i.e. discrete gaming GPU) that you can get for anywhere close to $400. Doesn’t exist.

It's for people like me, who have a high demanding job, want to play games quick and easy, want my kids to be able to play too, want to be able to play Civ kinds of games on the go, and last but not least stream games from Ps Now and Xbox Game pass

To everybody who contributes to my roast post later today: No, you eat shit.

It’s sad thinking about the talent and personalities that have come through here. I wish Kotaku had pulled a Defector about 2-3 years ago. That’s a site I would have gladly subscribed to.

My only solace is that the new writers Kotaku has picked up over the past few years feel like they've always been here. Moreso than at other GO sites.

Wow, anther of the old-ish guard out. Farewell Nathan, eat shit and avoid herbs the best you can.

Right.  I’ve been buying Steam games since Half-Life 2, and say what I will about Valve’s shortcomings, every game I’ve bought on Steam is still playable on my current PC.  It means a lot that games I buy won’t just be playable in the immediate future, but will be playable years from now on whatever PC devices I

I think the key thing that most people forget is that even if the Switch hardware itself isn’t in direct competition with Steam Deck, the game sales are. This is where most of the earnings are made.

Hi. I'm a lawyer (so I can afford some luxury items) and because I have a young kid and a wife to share the TV screen with, I have been dying for a solution like this for a long time, so I can play modern games sitting on the couch staring at a smaller screen.
