That throwout bearing was temperamental. I had the same thing happen with mine. I just had them replace the whole assembly when it started that because it was ridiculous.

I had an SL1. Keep in mind that your car is not exactly the most modern - it was designed in the 80s. The only PITA that I had was getting the power-steering hose connected when the pump went bad - at just a hair over 100k miles.
