As an avid Monster Hunter fan I’d agree with this! Although I think its much more in conversation with Rise and World than the rest of the series, and given that they launched in 2018 and 2021 respectively I can see a case being made that their influence here was limited.

Watching the trailer yesterday, I feel less like this is Pokemon: Breath of the Wild and more Monster Hunter: Pokemon. The camps, the quests to “hunt” the various pocket monsters, the mounts... It’s all very Monster Hunter to me. That’s actually a very valid direction for the series to take, so I hope it works out.

Charles Martinet should absolutely be the voice of Mario. Full stop. I’ll tell you why.

The volcano stealth mission where you lost everything did go a bit long for me, but I found the Silent Realm tear-collecting to actually be a really satisfying challenge. It basically turned you into a speedrunner, first exploring and routing out areas you had some familiarity with, until you could finally try full

I actually quite liked the motion controls in the original, I never found them too finnicky or hard to use. The game had its other issues, which the quality of life changes have mostly tried to address, though the repetitive nature of the main quest is still an issue. Overall I have fond memories of Skyward Sword, but

A lot of older fans had crazy nostalgia for Pit because Kid Icarus was one of the marquee titles in the early NES/Famicom lineup, with a really catchy OST. Also, he was one of the stars of a terrible Saturday Morning cartoon.
