Maybe we should stop looking for logic in it and call them out. It’s “code”. When they get government assistance, or when businesses do, it’s right and good. When black people or Hispanics get it: it’s a handout, “free stuff”, it’s pretty much of the devil, to hear them talk about it.

I’m tired of conservatives making it look like getting government aid is such a sin. The American people (especially the old ones) and the most selfish group of people I have ever known of.

Imagine you have a moron for an older brother. Imagine that brother gets elected president. Imagine you were known as “the smart one” but know you have almost no chance of being elected president. I’m just surprised he hasn’t torn his short open in an impotent rage and collapsed on a debate floor yet.

This narrative of “Black people like free stuff” is so odd. Like...everybody likes free stuff, no? And the underlying assumption that we don’t want to work, we’re lazy, violent, etc. Interesting that the stereotype went from slow-witted but docile and easy to direct to lazy and violent once it became illegal to…

Some time ago Washington Post and others ran stories about how many of the Tea Party’s strongest supporters were also the ones who benefited the most from government largess. It’s always been less about “free stuff” and more about making sure “those other, undeserving people” don’t get “free stuff.”

Maybe 24% (or 24 minus the no comments) have gotten jobs they wanted and advanced in those careers and have black coworkers. I don't think it's unfathomable that just a quarter (or less) of black people feel that they, personally, have experienced a decent work life. It's not that high of a bar.

Americans generally suck at accepting differences. I’ve been Black for over 40 years now and I am not particularly hopeful my kids will have an easier time of it - if they do, it will only be if their father and I manage to make enough $$ to shelter them from reality.

I would say that 76% in a poll number is an overwhelming majority. I’m sure there were many “no opinion” or such answers. Also, there are many many women who don’t believe in unequal pay (despite all evidence for it).

What do people think that black lives matter IS about? And what are those issues that are supposedly more real than, you know, racist police officers killing black people?

Can you ever be "compliant" if you are a black woman? I mean what is the goddamned point? It's like listening to rich people complain about their 401k plans I have no idea what it would mean to even participate in this.
