A couple things:

The idea that an artist is above criticism because they are occasionally subversive is possibly one of the worst takes I have ever heard. 

If you use the freedom a game offers you to look up the skirt of a female character, and then complain about how this freedom/action is both childish and offensive: by your own addmitance you are making a value judgement on both the action you’re decrying and everyone who is doing that action.

Someone walks up to you and says “I will give you a cookie if you look up that girl’s skirt”.

you get locked out of the trophy for not looking up the character’s skirt so you’re basically punishing players for not being creeps. There is no nuance to be had here. 

I really needed to read LiA today. I’m getting older and have started to doubt my life choices.

I’m getting a lot of “Ethics in Gaming Journalism” vibes from the people who are upset about this.

Other than, you know, the obvious things like lynch mobs, the KKK, but you’re right, no real negative implications tied to that image.

Not if you don’t test. The US is so far behind in testing, those numbers mean jack all. 

And that’s not even a good stat because testing is so inconsistent. Iceland is only near the top here because they have been extensively testing their citizens.
