A couple things:

The idea that an artist is above criticism because they are occasionally subversive is possibly one of the worst takes I have ever heard. 

If you use the freedom a game offers you to look up the skirt of a female character, and then complain about how this freedom/action is both childish and offensive: by your own addmitance you are making a value judgement on both the action you’re decrying and everyone who is doing that action.

Someone walks up to you and says “I will give you a cookie if you look up that girl’s skirt”.

you get locked out of the trophy for not looking up the character’s skirt so you’re basically punishing players for not being creeps. There is no nuance to be had here. 

I really needed to read LiA today. I’m getting older and have started to doubt my life choices.

I’m getting a lot of “Ethics in Gaming Journalism” vibes from the people who are upset about this.

Other than, you know, the obvious things like lynch mobs, the KKK, but you’re right, no real negative implications tied to that image.

It’s not so much that as that they’ve thought vikings were a cool subject (which yeah) only much later for someone to note “hold on, we seem to be playing as the colonisers in this one. How are they the hero fighting for freedom,” and no one could give a good answer.

Maybe don’t take projects from known bigots.  You are who you get in bed with.

What is it with living in prolonged luxury and decadence from wealth that it gradually turns you into a monster?

Forget it, I’m not going to Harv’s Island, regardless of what rewards might be there.  Harv is creepy beyond belief.

It’s just bad marketing, and pretty offensive to large swaths of fans.

When the pics in question are less about what the character can DO, and more about their ass (when we don’t even get that for men’s asses), then yes. Plus the bonus of not talking about what she does and saying “we all horny”.  Maybe focus less on the horny and more about what the DLC brings in terms of play.

As a Canadian I can honestly say this is way outside the norm.

While Canadian Police, and Canadians, will no doubt still be reeling from the Nova Scotia shootings last month, which killed 22 people,
