I looked up some images of Exia and there is a lot of it’s DNA in this design. I’m sure when it’s on it’s third form or what have you it’ll be more distinct. 

I would even argue 0080 War in the Pocket, since Chris’ Gundam Alex is the main plot of the show, told through the eye of Al.

I have a feeling the mechanical designer is Kanetake Ebikawa, he’s most well known for Gundam 00 and Full Metal Panic. the hour glass proportions are just part of his style.

Iron Blooded Orphans is a good watch. 

It so far sounds like this series is kicking of a brand new timeline, so there is nothing relavent you’d need to catch up on. But if you like the aesthetics here, this looks similar to Gundam 00, as others have pointed out.

It took me about 4 reads to understand the difference between Feanor, Finrod, Filgolfin, Finarfin, and Fingon. 

A new generation gets to see how dense and unreadable 90% of the Silmarillion can be.  That said, I’m excited to add a new edition to my collection. 

It’s fascinating to me that Christopher Tolkien finished up the Silmarillion, and then spent decades writing additional books showing the decision-making that went into that - the  multiple texts, the huge “heliocentric” revision that J.R.R. Tolkien was playing with late in life, and so forth.
