Pokemon Go has actually caused several deaths; personally if this were an app I had created (dear god, I wish I had...), I’d probably want to avoid the liability. Just seems like it’d be a good idea if there are weather conditions that are actually seriously dangerous to just make sure.

You know some dumbass will go outside and try anyway. If there are seriously dangerous conditions, seems a better idea to disable the app until it’s safe.

I’d point out that while we are all screaming about Nintendo not preserving these games, not all of them are Nintendos’ to preserve. A LOT of these games have no clear ownership—owners or creators have died, companies have gone under or been bought, etc etc.
