I haven't come across any data but I just read an article recently about the "concussion-like" brain damage that skaters experience from practicing their spins. In terms of chronic injury, jumps aren't exactly the most dangerous thing out there.

I imagine a park next to the ocean would actually be cheaper, since they don't have to spend money on the tanks and the water. But people can correct me if I'm wrong.

One thing I'd like to add is that being around someone you know has depression is uncomfortable. I've been on both sides of it. You can feel helpless, even put off or scared by the intense emotions or negativity. But don't run away from it, because that makes someone who already feels like they're alone even more so.

There have been a few somewhat similar powerful scenes in games the past few years. Heavy Rain had several scenes dedicated to you gravely harming yourself and cutting off one of your own fingers. That was 1) a key element of the story and 2) entirely optional. You could just walk away.

I also retail games at a video game store. I usually recommend inFamous 1 and 2, and Just Cause 2.
