You seem to be ignoring the actual context of the call. It’s one thing to call the police and say something like, “hey, this guy’s smoking weed, you better get over there” and it’s a totally different discussion to call and say there’s an active armed hostage situation.

Thanks for sharing. Reading the replies to her totally reasonable tweet gave me so many assholes to mute! Glad to see her talking about this.

I’ve taken to throwing excess fruit in my water bottle. Really nice to have some random raspberry or lemon water! (Obvs not 10lbs worth though)

In this episode, I was super confused about why she didn’t actually go rogue and “announce” her engagement via the media. For all of her angst, she seems to always fall in line. I feel sorry for her, and Vanessa Kirby is fantastic, but I also don’t.

That’s a good POV I hadn’t thought about. In the scenes, he blends into the family so well for me that it’s easy to forget his background.

Yeah, the show has an extremely soft touch when it comes to colonialism and the impact of the monarchy outside England. At times, it’s definitely made me uncomfortable (same with some of the period sexism). But, same as you, I really enjoy the show overall.

The review literally asks that question about the show. I understand that it does come up again and again, since the show is episodic, but I personally find it really interesting as a discussion. I can’t always tell and I’m happy to see it in the review.

I think it was a love/affair trinket, not porn.

I know this comment is a year old, but dammit, I finally watched the first season of this show. To your comment, “He gives up his name, his titles, his country, everything to be with her, everything except privilege”, I don’t know. I think that’s a bit much. He gives up “everything” to never have to work again, live

Given the last name, I assumed she was part of the famous family and just shoplifting. From googling, seems to be true. Why does everyone think she’s broke? (Not trying to be a jerk, there’s a lot of celeb stories I don’t know)

I listen to a ton of podcasts and would happily leave reviews.. except I listen to them on an Android phone. I’d actually prefer to leave a public review than email, because I want them to be more popular and get listeners!

Yeah, but I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same. No one wants to work forever! She’s hot now and celebs always say commercials are easy money. Bank it, invest it, retire. (I would miss her, because I like her acting, but I would also respect this plan)

For everything you stated, I can’t believe they remade this, of all movies. Goldie Hawn is great but that movie plot is a garbage fire only saved by her totally over the top performance. I can’t believe many rooms of people heard this idea and went, “yep, I can’t see what could go wrong.”

Because millenials question some social expectations instead of just blinding doing whatever everyone else did? Is that why?

I don’t know why I’m fighting with you on the internet. Hopefully parents who want to see their kids are visiting them as much as they are able. It’s not 100% on kids, including financially, to keep that relationship going.

It’s true, most parents are unable to leave their own homes after the age of 50.

Really good point. The Yorkes are the only real humanized parents (though Nico’s mom is getting a bit of that). The others, including Alex’s mom, are kind of caricatures of banally-evil rich people.

Nico’s sister seems really likely to be a plot device, not an actual story. I thought we were going to get some investigative intrigue, was there more to her suicide, but it seems like no.

I haven’t read the comics and the pace of the show still feels off. Exactly like the review said, each new episode springs up 4 or 5 different plot threads and then by the next episode, maybe 1 will be mentioned again. I like the show but I actually watch all the episodes at least twice because I feel like there’s so

It’s definitely an excuse. When I’m looking for jobs, I don’t apply to organizations that I actively disagree with or dislike. Because it’s not “just work”.
