I thought Buddhism was the least shitty religion, until I started hearing about radical monks. So I just go by my own personal beliefs, which involve thinking nature is pretty great and one simple rule: don’t be an asshole.

I don’t know much about Buddhism, but this hardcore goes against what I thought about the religion...

There are other ways for cops to deal with the disturbed, if they really wanted to.

Wow! Angry jeebus people are irrational. I mean, is being gay a “birth defect” or can a child be “indoctrinated” via “psycho-emotional rape?”

How dare this teacher be compassionate, care about the students, and be open-minded! We can’t have any of that around here, no siree.

“Queers can’t get married because the bible is against it. So, to protest, we’re going to get a divorce...which the bible is also against. So, you know, Jesus.”

Yeah, as a heavily tattooed woman I agree. I’ve had most artists make recommendations about placement and style to me. In fact, I’ve had sort of the anti-Dan experience (with a guy who also refuses to do hand and neck tattoos on people who aren’t already covered in tats, btw—it’s seriously a common policy) where my

People don’t seem to get the give-and-take that comes with tattoo artists and clients. You can get exactly what you want...but it’s still their work. Their art, part of their repertoire! They have every right to refuse a job, just like as a photographer I have every right to refuse a job that I don’t see fit for me. I

I respect that artist who refused. For whatever reason.

Exactly. No necks and hands is a super common rule among artists, and many of them do it for personal reasons (ie. regret, whatever) and for protecting the shop (it opens up a certain amount of liability if someone claims down the line they can’t get a job because of a tattoo you did).

I understand why this was an upsetting experience, but tattoo artists refuse jobs all the time for all sorts of reasons. Many have a no necks, no hands policy - it’s quite common. And, as you discovered, what’s off-limits to one artist is totally okay with another - you were able to get exactly what you wanted in the

The logic he employed is common in the tattoo world. I have had tattoo artists strongly persuade me to get one tattoo over another, placed here instead of there. I listened. Had I not, I would have kept shopping. You threw a fit and as far as I can tell, it has nothing to do with you being a woman. You’re attempt to

Maybe it’s time to switch to decaf?

There’s no way that it would take more time to have him point at a line of text on a menu than to get two managers involved to eventually decide on and approve the plan Josh came up with.

I see your bear, and raise you a moose family playing in sprinklers!

I just read through the comments section of the Tacoma Stories link and someone fairly close to the situation said that her father had threatened to put her up for adoption. If this is true, coupled with the hair cutting off incident, it paints a picture of an abuser who should be in jail.

Chopping off her hair. What kind of fucking medieval punishment is this? That’s what they did to women who slept with Germans during the French occupation. Getting drunk or whatever doesn’t warrant this hateful treatment. This is horrid.

True fact: the only times I’ve ever gone to work without makeup, at least one person as said, “Are you okay; you look terrible!”

Policing her body isn’t the point of this initiative; she has the form she has and it’s none of our business. I think it would be overstepping, and also incredibly rude, to seek her out and grill her about her weight and health.
