These kinds of binaries also allow us to be free of examining the inherent biases and problems within our system. When we restrict ourselves to asking which is worse, we eliminate the process of questioning why we are in a position to choose those binary options in the first place.

Let's put it this way. If we are willing to spend trillions of dollars on defense because other nations might come and attack us. Why can't we spend trillions on the environment because Mother Gaia might freak out one day and unleash some climate disasters?
