I’m going to go right ahead and put it out there: I am a firm believer in alcohol only magnifying what’s already in there.

Oh.
This is obviously progress. You know perfectly well that had this been a few years ago, it would have been Midol. I, for one, think they deserve high praise for not adding casual misogyny in with their casual idiocy.
I really wish reviewers would stop gushing uncritically over this album long enough to address the incredibly inappropriate choice of a picture of Whitney Houston’s bathroom for the cover. Like, you didn’t even think that was worth mentioning?
It seems like a counter culture power move to me since we’re in the age of rappers dropping long albums to increase their streaming presence. Everything about this album from the lack of anything resembling a radio single to the length to it’s controversial cover feels like Push being intentionally “anti”.
Because Pusha is calling it an album, and there isn’t really a set boundary on how long a release has to be to become an album nowadays (if there ever was). Dude has artistic reasons for dropping a 20-minute album and we’re just rolling with it.
I actually liked Rick’s verse, but yeah, Kanye’s was easily the worst moment of the album.
The best I can say about this album is that its two worst moments are also the only two moments when Push isn’t rapping. Rick Ross’ verse is super mediocre, which isn’t the end of the world, but then Kanye comes on rapping about MAGA hats on the second-to-last song, and suddenly I’m snapped out of it, thinking, “oh…
22 minutes? Nice. Most rap records should top out at 35 minutes or less - no skits, no filler, no 10 minute monologue about your come-up, just give me the good stuff.
i like basically all the pusha solo records, but they usually have a couple filler joints. this record is crazy front to back. first listen i was like “oh this is weirdly lowkey” and then because it was 22 minutes i ended up listening like 4 more times while i edited photos and uhhhh its good folks.
It’s because people keep refusing to draw the similarities between him and past rises of authoritarian leadership. Calling him Hitler is apparently hyperbole...even when he’s basically following the same road map as Hitler did.
We’ve gotten ourselves into this mess by underestimating how much Trump is willingly acting. He does most things, and says many outlandish things, on purpose, to elicit extreme reactions. He’s openly lying about the FBI investigation, not because he doesn’t know the facts, but because he’s actively trying to undermine…
The majority of people upset over the “disrespect” shown by not standing for the anthem also proudly fly the Confederate flag next to the Stars and Stripes.... So let’s grade their anger on the idiotic curve it deserves.
Lemme check my notes: so you have to stand for the anthem out of respect, but it’s cool to mock Vietnam vets for being POWs.
She isn’t a university professor but a project manager for
Yesha’s write-up and Kevin Cash’s tweet are a little confusing. Shulte apparently attended Stanford (which means it’s her alma mater permanently, not former), got her degree, and went to work somewhere (Environmental Resources Management Limited?)
She thinks it’s her responsibility to make sure these random Black people follow the “rules” like Walter Sobchak did to Smokey. Luckily she didn’t have a firearm, or the story might be about someone getting killed.
According to The Root (see above) and the Google she is not a professor, but it is likely she received a PhD. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford.
That woman clearly has issues. A university professor has nothing better to do than stand around a park on a Sunday calling the cops on people who at worst were guilty of a misdemeanor? Who the fuck does she think she is?
So, how much longer do you think it will be before Jeff Sessions gives a speech or press conference somewhere denouncing all the recent attention to #WhileBlack because “We don’t want people to be afraid to call the police” and “If you haven’t committed a crime you have nothing to be afraid of” and accuses everyone of…
