Well I would guess it’s essentally a “F-you marketing”. Marketing probably wanted to go promoting the male Protagonist, because of prevalent masculine-toxicity. Creators wanted to go with the female Protagonist as canon, so they went with a woman name for both, and marketing dingbats didn’t noticed the trick.
