My feelings exactly. Assuming the list is comprehensive, it's probably best to ignore the little voice that tells me I should reactivate my profile.

My parents never introduced me to Santa as anything as fiction, and I can't say I knew other kids actually believed in Santa back in the day. So now I'm worried that I might have accidentally disappointed a classmate or two! Ouch.

I think I don't mind seeing some of these old traditions disappear. My Portuguese great-grandmother had to wear only black (and of course, behave suitably somber and untouchable, as a contrite Catholic widow) from ages 30 t0 80-something. That sort of expectation is pretty hard on women.

Yep. "Married parents" don't necessarily mean a happy, healthy relationship - neither between the parents or for the kids.

Walk, don't run, into dirty talk.

I got a similar nursery dolls for Xmas once. They came in a box with a birth certificate wrapped in colourful paper on top - when you put it in water it'd melt so you could see which doll you got. I didn't get twins or even the doll I preferred (I wanted a brunette like me and got a blonde baby)... but I remember how

I've been told it's a common thing with former expats, unfortunately. I moved back home last year thinking I'd have an easier time of it, what with all the people I knew. Now I'm starting to think that I may be better off hanging out by myself abroad - more interesting than hanging out by myself in my hometown!

Doesn't sound like you're a self-absorbed friend, then - those are pretty terrible listeners. I don't think it's so much about asking questions as taking an interest in what's going on with the other person.

Of course it makes a lot of sense to cut off those shabby friends. The thing is, as the article points out, there's a time when you just don't make friends easily anymore.. and then there's just you and maybe a couple of people left. I think not having a social circle (even one made of terrible friends) makes it even

Ack! I'm often allergic to hygiene products so I've been there. No one ever seems to talk about how products like soap can and often will cause extra terrible allergies on your sensitive parts.

I actually came here to see if it happened in Florida...

Starred for calling Salinger "the patron saint of whiny mainchildren".

I'd like to add people who snidely correct your use of the English language, sometimes wrongly, and in full knowledge of the other person's status as a foreigner! I've had to tell a lot of British friends that it's really not polite to keep interrupting people with corrections...

And it's just a little ridiculous to say she shouldn't have (and express) an opinion on younger artists. Everyone else does! If anything, she's more informed about music and the music industry than the majority of us...

A friend's husband did that to her twice: once when she had an emergency c-section to to pre-eclampsia and, as a result, a tiny premmie, and the second time when she'd just had her second baby, apparently more permanently. :/

"Kids these days have it easy..Back in my days break ups were done in UNIX! On those orange screens! No emoticons!!"

Grocery deliveries are so, so useful. They seem to be pretty common in western Europe, especially in areas full of elderly people. I don't qualify as elderly quite yet, but I ordered in a lot because 1) no car, 2) no one to help carry stuff and 3) 4th flour, no lift. I think all three qualify as very Western European

Hmm I'd never heard of the rule about dead parents. Here's a suggestion from abroad: in many countries, invitations will have the names of both parents with the inscription in memoriam (in memory) after the name of the parent who passed away. It's pretty traditional but also very much in use. I don't know if it's ever

A candidate for "most American headline and story" of the year.

Let's all criticise these stupid foreigners and the things they do because they are not common in 'Murrica! 'Murrica is the land of good taste, impeccable fashion and squeaky clean morals!
