Chappelle special should be judged on its content. Whether or not people liked it, they are entitled to their own subjective opinion. But the fact that some corporate interest MIGHT pay attention and react to negative opinions is imo not a good rationale for critiquing those opinions. 

That may be true as far as character motivations go in the stories published after original Kirby (co) created appearances (with the caveat some those narratives were retcons or addendums of the existing stories), but I don’t think Kirby had that in mind when he first made both groups.
