Haha what? I have never heard of those two things—place cards and the lottery—being combined before. It’s like trying to have a formal wedding but then making it Nascar themed!

Well said!

OH MY GOD CONGRESS. GO HOME, YOU ARE DRUNK.

This is so true

I loled.

Yeah way to crush all my dreams :/

I don’t think it’s wrong to buy them for a gift in a serious way or anything. I just the lottery is massively stupid.

That’s very nice! But I would rather have a gift card.

Hey, if she asked for it, go for it! I feel like it’s hard to do secret santa well, and she’s told you what she wants so that just makes it easy.

Yeah, that’s a great story! Nice that it works out as a gift sometimes.

Well, I don’t mean to be a jerk about anyone’s fun, so you just keep on keeping on! But I guess what would bother me is if someone got me just a lottery ticket and nothing else, because then if I don’t win then they literally got me “nothing” as a gift. But if it’s in a stocking, I assume it’s not the only thing in

Interesting, I had no idea this was an Australian thing.

Ah interesting! Good to know!

I’m not really hating on him for this—I’m not trying to say this is a big deal.

Oh that’s perfect! I like your mom’s style.

Yeah that’s visually overwhelming.

But a gift card for coffee actually gets you something! I never understand how wasting money and getting nothing for it is fun.

I think I would rather actually get nothing, because then I wouldn’t be expected to act grateful.

I feel like lottery tickets are a shitty Christmas gift under any circumstances, but for a big shot to give scratch off tix to the crew seems like such a bummer, gift-wise.

I always knew it was true intellectually, but seeing it for myself really made me realize how big the gap is. It impacts everything from whether there is a swanky playground or an empty patch of land (or nothing at all), to whether first grade classrooms can have a second teacher in the room.
