The conservative mindset these days seems to be that any vote for the Democrats is on its face illegitimate, so any attempt to secure those votes must be improper.

It feels like an incredible self-own to me. Like, you’re own sense of self and intelligence is so fragile that another person giving their opinion will just overwhelm your ability to think for yourself.

“You’re not my goddamn supervisor!”

I appreciate that the fact the mob is dumber is recorded on that guy’s clipboard.

In Trump’s America, thinking will be outsourced to the private sector. For a very reasonable monthly subscription, all your opinions, musings and decisions will be pre-packaged and shipped to you by drones.

“We have Kid Rock. We have Ted Nugent. And we’re all just going to have to learn to live with that!”

It makes me think of one of my favourite lesser-quoted John Mulaney bits, where he’s imagining being one of those comedians who says, “My wife is a bitch and I don’t like her”: “That’s not a comedy set, that’s a men-in-crisis seminar with special guest speakers Alec Baldwin and Jon Voight!”

Sam Rockwell always brings the fun. I recently saw ‘Mr Right’, which is a fairly mediocre movie, but him playing a goofy assassin alongside Anna Kendrick (who is similarly always a joy to watch) elevated it a lot.

New idea for a franchise: every movie has a new action hero in a different life-or-death scenario, but it’s always Argyle waiting for him in the limo.

I wondered about that. Whether it’s good or bad, the trailer’s have certainly been making a big deal of her being in this, so I thought it would rate a mention.

I like how ‘Invincible’ had Mark consider the name Ass-Kicker for one second before dismissing it as “wilfully childish”, which honestly sums up my feelings about a lot of Vaughn’s style (and, of course, that of Mark Millar, the originator of Kick Ass).

“[O]r whether it’s listening in the bathrooms”.

I think Sokka’s sexism is important because it’s not just him; when the Gaang gets to the Northern Water Tribe, Katara is told she can only train as a healer because that’s the role for women who are water benders there. Sokka has just picked up the customs of the earlier generations, and like a lot of the stuff

I love the episodes where Sokka basically admits he has a schtick, and that he’s playing up the role of “meat-and-sarcasm guy”. The voice is a big part of that - it’s loud and draws attention to him. I agree that the live action voice hasn’t showed that off yet.

They were cringeworthy in the animated show. They were meant to be cringeworthy. You can tell almost immediately that Katara is level-headed and responsible and that Sokka’s comments about gender aren’t based on any rational thinking. It’s not exactly subtle, but this is a kid’s program, and when those teach lessons

Fntastic Studio:

I bet you think this game is about you, don’t you?

I think it’s time we got the next generation Power Glove we all deserve.

“Like acupuncture with none of the needles but all of the pseudoscience!”

Don’t Tread on My Ears.
