Because everyone in this thread seems to think there is an actual “thing” to say or do to them, when it really has more to do with creating an environment that welcomes young boys. There’s a lot of responses here that can get boiled down to “it’s their own fault they can’t figure it out” mixed with “they need to no

I don’t think you really get the difference between the content of said talk, and the act itself.

Because ignoring the problem has always worked out well, right?  I agree that it’s stupid to go online for wisdom, but that’s what is happening to a lot of young kids now.  We should be doing things that address what’s actually going on, and not what we’d like to think is going on.

Making something for a demographic to purchase is not the same thing as speaking frankly and directly with them.

So I came over from Jalopnik to read this article and now I learn that I’m a jerk! Don’t worry, I’m not offended and realize that you were not attacking me. Actually, a part of me judges people with high end cars as status-seeking jerks too. You should try owning a completely impractical, unreliable, but FUN second

Take em all:

Everyone knows that the president of Romania is George Santos

That and owning ‘x’ number of cars isn’t the flex some think it is.

The belief that you’re better and more deserving than other people just because of your sex/race/religion/etc... is a hell of a drug. It’s not super surprising to me that he’s attracted so many fans; compassion and empathy can be hard, mindless entitlement is easy.

I still remember watching that twat Elliot Rodger’s videos and going ‘Christ, this asshole thinks women owe him for existing.’ and having a feeling this is probably going to be echoed a lot. Hell if I knew just how much and how many people like Tate are going to use it for bullshit sales tactics like this. It’s super

The left doesn’t really have messaging “to men.” The messaging of the left, as I see it, is we should all strive to build a society that is equitable and just and fair. The reason that message might have a tendency to be less effective on men is because men are often the beneficiaries of things that are inequitable

Nah....dont tell them to run in the other direction. Just roll their eyes and say ‘that dude is a scamming chode’ - which he is and his hot take is so old hat people should have seen it coming.

And beyond that: Your role models should not only be people of your own gender. Your personality, character and behavior are not defined by your gender. You should be able to take advice and learn things from people of any gender. If they only want to listen to men or if they only want to listen to people who are

Not just the left, it’s everyone’s, it’s all of us as a society’s responsibility to raise boys to be better men. It’s in all our best interests. And I don’t think the left coming up with a Tate-like figure is the solution, sorry if that wasn’t clear from my comment and it’s certainly not what the podcast I linked to

No, it was a reply to the premise presented in the article that the left needs to emulate Andrew Tate, so they are counter-examples.

Isn’t that a bit mean though? I wouldn’t dream of telling a 13 year old teenage girl that she isn’t special and should get over herself.

I think you need to put “brain” and/or “trust” in quotation marks there.

Crazy thought... what if what’s missing for these boys, the thing they need to keep them on the right path but aren’t getting, isn’t good role models, or tenderness, or anything else generally welcomed and acknowledged as desirable, but rather...accountability?

Uh... what do you think Andrew Tate is? News?
