I wouldn’t call rape an “awareness campaign.” It’s a campaign for justice, dignity, and safety. The awareness that is generated helps victims speak up instead of being shamed into silence.
Something totally needs to be done. This 1 in 4 college women will be raped isn't a joke and needs to be ACTULLY addressed. Rather than ignored.
Maybe for you?
Women: Please start bringing witnesses and tape recorders to your meetings with administration. They clearly cannot be trusted.
First of all there is no golden path for mothers at work. It’s not a rose garden.
Moms who allow themselves to have an identity beside being “MOM” are the best.
My boss told me today I could go home early if I needed to because I was getting a little upset about my aunt. She said I cover for people so much that if I needed time for myself to take it. It was nice to hear that. Not everyone gets that support.

It is a general internet dealie and in no way related to me! I think it is pretty much just out there for use, but I like your integrity!
they turn into words of condescension after a point.
maybe they can just be people again? With either ‘victim’ or ‘survivor’ the word is about the person and not the event, which on some level assumes that event has changed the person, has moved them into some new sort of category. Maybe we can avoid forcing them into a new category and instead speak of the events as…
There are things you survive. There are things you get over or move past.
So what's the solution? A constantly evolving language that shifts when the overuse of one word diminishes its meaning? Isn't that sort of how language already works?
I really like this, because I’ve also seen the concept creep going on regarding bullying (no, making fun of a bigot isn’t bullying the bigot), and I also see a lot of power in breaking down when and why internet hate and harassment is distinct from bullying (or ‘cyberbullying’ which is just the same thing but with a…
