You banned soft drinks, dude. You don’t have much room to whine about a nanny state.

I wonder what the public discussion over “safe spaces” would look like if we first all attempted to agree on exactly what a “safe space” is. Because I feel like this issue is an excuse for people to free associate on what it sounds like to them and argue over the feelings it inspires, instead of, like, concrete…
Yet, they are the least objectionable participants in this.
His wife is a lizard, in a lizard suit— why should we assume he’s any different? I’m onto these people, man.
But that would account for 90% of what we all say D:
This explains so much.
We have to be kept on our toes trying to guess what society expects out of us. If we are ever allowed to let our guards down, we might be happy and productive, and then men would really feel inferior.
“17 of the 16 contestants went to the N.I.H.”
Agreed. It’s been a looooong time, but I feel like the animated series felt worse in its “subtle” discrimination because there’s was something off-putting about Winston’s portrayal there (maybe it’s the translation to a kid-specific audience and the ways that slapstick/physical humor was utilized...again, I’m basing…
I just end up thinking they’re pretty incompetent.
Oh my God, are you saying ALIAS WAS A DOCUMENTARY??? I KNEW it!
And those people are morons. I don’t think it’s quite the same as people saying that in their experience “I feel” is not a phrase that shuts down conversation. Which BTW you’ve only presented someone’s opinion about, not like actual research.
Wow what a rude thing to say about cave men. You owe our extinct cousins an apology for comparing them to such a man.
I think Worthen has a point. But then I’m old.
Hmm. Interesting. My boss recently told me that I come across as too aggressive, so in order to “make people want to work with me” I should hedge more. And the exact example she gave was: instead of saying “This is a problem” I should say “I feel like maybe this could be a problem.”
Seriously. And that’s just off the top of my head. There are so many better ways to do that character. Sign me up, Hollywood. My rewrites are very affordable.
Totally agree. Well, not totally, but yes. I don’t think any of the original Ghostbusters had a negative portrayal—they were all the heroes—but Winston’s race is not at all relevant to the character and the role could easily be played by a white actor (except for his best line, ‘I’ve seen shit that’ll turn you…
i love this, its a great critical thinking of the movie
If failed, ludicrous books were all it took to get booted from the Columbia faculty...the PhD unemployment crisis would be solved...
