I love this on my pickup. Keypad all the things
It’s funny, I read the headline and thought “Bummer, I didn’t have a covid project.” After reading through the replies here though, I think I actually did. I bought a 2020 ND Miata mid-covid when the deals were too good to pass up. My job has been wildly busy this summer and free time has been in short supply, hence…
I think this is dead on. When you bundle a feature into only the basest of options, it’s going to look like it doesn’t sell. The same thing happened to the 2 door VW Golf/GTI and non-crew cab pickups. If I sold Snickers bars in a package along with a swift kick to the groin, my Snickers sales would look terrible.
Behold: The JK Speedster
This legitimately makes me want to cut the windshield off my ND.
This is gorgeous. The current model is a travesty. The E30, 36, and 46 M3 all share the same fate with this double-barrel hoover nosed abomination.
Heinous! THAT’S the word I was looking for! Thank you!
I had one of these in 2014. I liked it well enough but the experience just wasn’t the same as a Golf/GTI “plus a trunk”. I test drove a mk7 GTI in ‘15 and traded up. I do think it’s a very handsome and well-appointed car though and I am fond of it.
I’m a big fan of intermittent wiping. I’ll hit the ‘mist’ single wipe feature (except on Ford pickups where it’s on/off to get one wipe, wtf) for the entire drive if it doesn’t rain enough. If it does rain enough, I will meticulously manage the intermittent wiper speed to the absolute minimum wipeage to do the job. May…
I feel obligated to comment and agree. I’ve had a JK as my daily for 8 years. I picked up an ND this summer and it does indeed feel like a McLaren.
Oh I agree completely! The 3.6 Pentastar in my Jeep is more than enough to idle me up about any obstacle out there in 4lo. That predictable NA powerband is great for applying throttle at barely non-zero speeds and I don’t think I’d want a turbo in that application. In fact, when the 3.6 gives out (or I get bored…
This is dead on. My brother had a ‘16ish F150 with the Coyote and I’ve had both the 3.5 and 2.7 ecoboosts in a ‘15 and ‘18 F150 respectively. The 2.7 is livable while returning a real world 21mpg. The 3.5 was buckets of fun, with additional buckets of fun from a 5 minute premium gas tune, while still giving me up to…
They’re gonna have to arrest my kid..
That’s fair. I drive a lot but I don’t do a lot of real long haul stuff. I could see it being helpful for a tedious highway trip.
I don’t see the appeal of this autonomy. First of all, I think I’d be incredibly uncomfortable trusting Autopilot to drive me down the road, perhaps because I’m a generally attentive driver and I feel responsible for myself, my passengers, and those around me while hurtling down the road in a missile. Secondly, I keep…
As someone who owns one and would happily own both... Ford’s mirrors-stay-on-the-vehicle is the right answer. For all the reasons listed. I think Jeep made a HUGE mistake there with the JL.
This guy has a grenade on his shelves. And an RC heli canopy. And the rest of the heli up to the right. And a longboard leaning on the wall behind him. That’s pretty cool
As a person with a fleet of RC vehicles, this is a familiar sound. Hearing it in the context of a full size performance vehicle makes me giggle. It’s been a long time now that nitro RC cars gave up the mainstream to electrics which are better in.. every way except the smell. They are unholy fast and I can’t wait till…
There were 3 more tires inside ;)
I love the consistent knee-jerk reaction to everything offroad of “oH ThAt’Ll LoOk GrEaT paRkEd aT tHe MalL”. Some people use the stuff. I have TWO racks for my JK (gasp!), one for the hard top and one for no top. I use them when I need to fit extra stuff or if I’m carrying things I don’t want in the Jeep. We’re all…
