It’s possible that the makers of this seat doesn’t know there is a government approval needed. There used to be lots of aftermarket back seats made for the CJ Jeeps - I doubt any of them were certified by any government bodies. Just as the makers of the aftermarket Jeep bumpers also never got their bumpers crash…

People seem to forget that there is a good side of the internet where people share knowledge and compare notes and learn how to fix up their cars from each other. It’s not all shouty ‘influencers’ and bitcoin hawkers.
Recently there is this company out of China that stuffs new CATL cells into Nissan Leaf battery cases (google Robert Luo Leaf battery). They are able to create a 64kwh pack which gives you well over 200mile range. This is the approach that is needed going forward.
Usually specialist mechanics tend to be fairly honest and tend to really know the cars they specialize in.
We’re lucky they haven’t followed the Apple Iphone approach where you can’t even replace the whole battery.
I lean towards either a VW R32 or BMW 128i. The NA engines avoid a lot of the problems the turbo engines have - especially in used cars. The DSG transmission in the VW is exceptionally good. Might even be better than the manual.
