Thoughts on this risk specifically on an airplane? I don’t often plug into those ports in the airport (or coffeeshop, etc), but on a plane that’s kinda all ya got.

You have to make a lot of uncharitable assumptions to jump to your smug, morally superior conclusion.  Calm down.  Better yet, grow up.

The solution to Uber drivers not making enough money is stunningly easy and requires no legal arguments about the contractor / employee gray zone - STOP DRIVING IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE PAY.  Problem solves itself.

Tell that to the politicians. They’re incompetent at basic issues, but always have “a plan” for our most complex problems.....and it almost always involves taking our money to do something they can’t possibly do effectively.

Stick to tech

For a mid-sized truck, it has the best powertrain stats....hp, torque curve, and mpg. I don’t think I’m out on a limb with the view that Jeep is pretty famous for mechanical failures and poor reliability. Ford isn’t exactly famous for great reliability either.  But YMMV.

All things considered I do actually like the truck. It was definitely the best option for me when looking at all the midsized trucks out there. What I like:

My 2019 Ranger rides like a 1960's 2-ton grain truck, so.....I guess that’s a sign of just how badass it is.  

There’s little worry of jalopnik going down that path and it has nothing to do wtih the owners......Jalopnik writers entertain and inform without acting like arrogant pricks who are morally superior to all who disagree with them.

If the government has to coerce people to make “better decisions”, it is by definition not a better decision for those people.  It’s not naivete to want government to let people make their own decisions.  Government has a long history of fucking up everything it touches (with exceptions).  

You want a car built by the government?  By the time their contracting processes and oversight and endless checks and balances, the “dirt cheap” car will cost $400k per unit to build.  Pass.  

You got got for sure. I think it’s time to go back to the days of haggling on price for every single purchase.....cars, hamburgers, gasoline, lap dances, cable TV.  BOGO’s everywhere!

On the other hand, McDonald’s just released their earnings and highlighted that they hit their revenue targets (but missed on income) by increasing the use of local and national promotions.

Yeah, I only have my personal anecdotes here, but it seems the dealerships aren’t really adjusting pricing much (at all?) like we’d expect when demand goes down. Maybe automakers are thinking that the strike will decrease supply enough that inventory isn’t going to go up.  Hell, Ford hasn’t even released many 2020…
