Beat me to it haha
Durham, NC for me. No idea where I fall on the spectrum.
I did. Told the police, too.
I think parts of it are:
That’s part of it. I think they legally have to recalibrate stuff. And that's technical work that isn't all that demanding, and doesn't require a new set of parts each time. Just the equipment to do the calibrations. Basically, easy money if you've got the gear for it.
Haha who knows, maybe my Miata will some day be driven by someone wearing a Super Bowl-losing team hat?
Problem is, the cost of the repair can just keep growing. And once the work is done, it’s got to be paid for. So if it smells like it might be a “runaway invoice” they’re gonna want to shut that down sooner rather than later.
The Miata is certainly a much more reasonable speed haha! But I can walk to work, so my miles are split evenly between weekly trips to the grocery store and regular back-road bombing.
This is utterly pointless. And absolutely awesome.
Don’t get me started with what it does to those who have the audacity to try and use the site on a phone.
I hadn’t considered the possibility that he’d had plenty of practice with this sort of thing, but you’re almost certainly right haha
I did love it, but I also *kinda* resented it because my wife talked me into buying the Miata instead of the Gen2 Viper I really wanted. Back in 2018 when the two were about the same money haha
Oh, I know I don’t want it back at this point. The shop knows it, too.
Holes torn in the body panels, frame showing, rocker panels not even attached any more...
Lord knows that’s what’s probably gonna happen to me after, well, this happened to me...
My poor Miata lost many of it’s censors after a hit-and-run. Now it’s just out there, doing whatever obscenities it pleases, disregarding any and all forms of public decency. It’s a real problem.
We should also acknowledge the fact that 80s GM/Chrysler products will run like absolute dogshit for longer than any modern car will run at all.
I live in the south. There are tons of old GM/Chrysler rustbuckets roving about on bald donut spares, misfiring engines merrily belching out black soot as they disregard any and all traffic laws.
Seriously. That truck could make it to the other side, which means it could continue driving around, cutting people’s fingers off, crashing into crowds, the works.
