The problem is they do; as best a bunch of folks in a basement on their own can. In my experience, these people are sincerely trying to be critical readers and suss out meaning from a raft of contradictions. 

One small window I have into this is having taken bible study classes when I was younger. In one perspective, Christianity is a rejection of Jewish law in favor of Jesus. So you have a bunch of average people trying to parse the rat’s nest of a theology that is Christian dogma. Then add in the pressure to believe this…

Also, in the novel, Lex is quite possibly the worst. It’s through sheer literary convention that her character wasn’t fed to the raptors as bait. She’s that terrible. Her character drifts towards parody, she’s so awful. Thank god they rewrote the kids for the movie.

The girl was white I think, Arby the boy who was cut, was black. They sort of combined their characters.

I’m curious about this. Does the actual data / research get ignored as well?
