Funny how quickly Scotty apologised to Murdoch but not...to like...the women who were sexually assaulted.

She’d have to leave the Senate though right? I think Plibersek might be ok.

Absolutely, we’ve all been very fortunate and lucky! I definitely think though that Melbourne has been struggling a lot after the long hard lockdown that no other place here experienced (while still feeling lucky in the wider global scheme) and there’s a lot of complicated emotions for many people.

Omg it does!

Yep.

Right?! It’s like, anytime he has an opportunity to show real leadership, he tries to embrace it and instead manages to become completely unhinged.

Ha yes, I think there’s quite a difference if you’re in Canberra where this would be all-consuming. I’m in Sydney where the flooding has definitely taken centre stage.”

I love meeting fellow Australians on Jez!!! Hello!

Trust me, a lot of us are trying to get them gone!!! Hopefully it sticks in people's minds, so the lure of lower taxes doesn't win the conservatives another election.

How did “big swinging dicks" escape my memory?!

I think Betoota are doing a pretty good job!

It’s a pleasure watching Scotty from Marketing unable to make the PR spin go his way. There's no good news coming up either so you'd think he'd shut up, but instead he keeps...talking? and making it worse!

This is a good article on the toxic political culture of Australia:

Thank for the additional comments - it does feel like there’s a sense of change, doesn’t it?

Agreed. As I said, there is simply SO MUCH happening that you’d need multiple essays to cover it all.

NP - he's an incredibly racist and horrific politician.

Interesting enough, it seems this time the media isn’t letting it go, and people are paying attention. I think Scomo would love for the floods (for non Australians, which is most readers, we are currently experiencing horrific and terrifying floods in NSW) to divert focus, but its not hugely affecting the other states

This doesn’t cover everything that’s been happening - it’s the highlights, the easiest to convey without necessitating a long essay of context.

There’s a lot missing from this piece, honestly, and it’s worse than you’d think.
