I think we have a winner.

Deportation would be fun.

This movie is so good. It would have been so easy to make secondary characters shallow and have supporting roles only and instead everyone is their own person with rich and complex back stories that influence how they act/react in their interactions with Jess.

Especially since its so ceremonial anyway - they have planners and decorators and event coordinators who do the actual work and planning, so why make the first person go through a silly and useless process of approving the minutia of those tasks?!

The spouses of leaders in other countries manage to maintain jobs and lives with little additional cost or high level of protection - while there are definitely unique factors in the US that mean the wife of the President might not be as anonymous, I’m sure they’d be seeking ways to make it as no n-disruptive as

He’s a super wealthy member of a for profit organisation - of course they bent their rules for him.

Exactly.

I don’t care that she couldn’t talk off the cuff, but I am shocked that law school didn’t teach her to have talking points prepared...

As I tell clients and colleagues - never put anything in writing, that you aren’t comfortable being read out in a deposition.
