It may not even be about poverty or not, but even just to know whether you’re wasting your time.

They actually made that into a movie, but called it The 13th Warrior (with Antonio Banderas).
Yeah in 1993 they didn’t know they were feathered, at least not beyond a few species. Not that it really matters as they used creative license with a few dinosaurs.
I’m similar, but for me, it was primarily one thing: getting a driver’s license.
And that just points out the real issue, which is that a lot of hiring managers are not very good at their job.
I would definitely agree with you, but one thing being overlooked is the actual skill/ability of the interviewer. HR reps may be more familiar, but lack any relevant expertise in evaluating a candidate for any job beyond HR, but among your average manager, few have any proper training with interviews, some don’t like…
Based on my own experience, I think a large degree of it can be attributed to being “safer.” Situations where interviewers either don’t know how to properly evaluate candidates (or not being qualified to evaluate specific candidates, such as when HR is involved), are unwilling to risk the decision on their own…
This might be the best approach, and is essentially “handle your own shit.”
On kind of the flip side, I’ve learned that when I’m hearing about conversations/dialogue second-hand, and someone is alleged to have said something outrageous like that, I need to confirm specifically that they are alleged to say those EXACT words.
The accountability should be on the person with the barking dog.
White desk and all-white walls creep me out. Also, anyone who leaves their walls white after moving in. Makes rooms look like dull government buildings or asylums.
The thing about buying new is that it isn’t just about cost. When buying new, you can usually better ensure you get the exact make, model and trim/colour that you want, with the warranty you want, from the dealer you want, when you actually want/need the car. Not to mention the ‘peace of mind’ that you know the car’s…
A new car is “used” as soon as you take ownership. I’m not sure how you can make the statement that used cars depreciate less. You certainly can’t make such a statement without at least defining the age range of the cars you’re comparing. It’s not like you can have a ‘used’ 5-year old car and a ‘new’ 3-year old car.
There’s a lot of hyperbole here. You seem to be personally sensitive to this.
Then what really are they wanting to do that you couldn’t do with a ~15 year old? I guess if your kids are untrustworthy or you want to go on some 2-3 week vacation you might have an issue, but you could do that when they’re younger too and have your parents/their grandparents look after them for the 1-2 weeks.
And what if someone is on a given platform, but it’s private? Not to mention if the account is set up to be outright anonymous (Twitter) or hard to find (Facebook). There’s a case to be made that any personal account should be private/restricted anyway. And a carefully controlled public account won’t really tell you…
There can be a difference though between being angry and berating someone. At a certain point it becomes a debate over where the line exists between annoyed or disappointed and “angry,” or where that anger is focused.
Still just allegations. Also, see Jian Ghomeshi’s trial.

Not really, it’s just about the source. The newer cables are not about resolution but bandwidth, basically framerate. So it depends on the source, like with 4K gaming at 60fps. If all you’re doing is watching TV or Blu-rays, there’d likely be no difference and you wouldn’t need newer cables.
